China and Boeing announced orders for 50 widebody planes today.

They didn't specify which types will be part of the order, but it's already reported that it will also include the 747.

It's likely the Air China will order some more 747-8Is, although it's also possible that the 747-8F is in the mix.

If the 744 is like what they are doing with the 748, then it is in CA livery because it can still be used as a regular service carrier.

The 748 was being equipped with a VIP configuration that could be swapped out apparently, so when needed, it can be configured as necessary.

Some good news there for the 747-8. I wonder if China Airlines may actually start picking up some frames. They have a large fleet of both pax and freighter 744s.

Hopefully we get a more comprehensive breakdown soon, and that there are a healthy number of 747s.

Yeah ... that was an insane order. When i first read about it earlier today. I thought it was false. I mean 300 planes ..... but it turned out to be legit

LN1502 RC672 VQ-BFE for Air Bridge Cargo is back to Everett after storage in KMZJ and painting in KVCV. It's former Asiana NTU frame.

It's a bit strange to see a presidential plane with a commercial livery, especially for a nation as powerful as China.
In the 1990s,China had bought a 767-300ER from Delta Airlines as the presidential plane, but in 2000,Chinese engineer found 27 detectaphones on this plane, this thing made the leadship of China very angry. After that, when the government official, including president, need to go abroad, the airforce choose a commercial flight from Air China, made some modification.when mission complete, the flight will back to commercial flight.

This certainly can't be good news for Boeing regarding their 748 sales to Transaero.

Transaero, Russia's biggest private airline files for bankruptcy.

Perhaps we can convince other carriers to buy the B747-8.

As for KE getting more B748s, it seems to me that having both the A380 and B747-8 can coexist if they send them to the right missions. Perhaps LH could reassign some of their B747s to Munich to complement the existing lineup of A333s and A346s.

Is Transaero demise resulted from Russian economic crisis? I know that since last year the number of Russians traveling overseas have declined.
It's not just the Boeing 747-8i delivery that would be affected. The fate of Singapore Airlines's last Boeing 747-400 which is now operated by Transaero with Tiger livery is unclear.

Those 747 remind me of the Scandal in Belgravia in BBC Sherlock Holmes drama. I was particularly into the last scenes filmed on the jet. Absolutely fantastic.

Now that there will most likely be 3 not taken up 747-8Is Boeing could persuade a charter and/or ACMI airline like Air Atlanta Icelandic to take these 3. Or maybe even Atlas Air next to their 747-8Fs, they already have 4 passenger 747-400s. If Boeing drops the selling prices low enough they will surely be taken up by some airline. And if not, they still could use them as the frames for the AF1 replacement.

In the mean time news has come out that Cargolux are about to place an order for 5 more 747-8Fs, mainly for a new Chinese subsidiary they are starting. We now also know that the LN1502 will go to AirBridgeCargo, that should mean a first firm order of their commitment that was announced at the Paris Air Show (either from them, or from a lessor).
