Does anyone have a membership to DJC? Are the three sites north of 45th or are they somewhere else?
Schuster LLC buys three sites OK'd for housing in U District http://www.djc.com/news/re/12026998.html By LYNN PORTER Yesterday, an entity of The Schuster Group bought three parcels in the University District that are entitled for a seven-story 85-unit residential building, according to public records

I wonder if that's those properties we were talking about earlier, that I was arguing they should hold off on developing until height limits are raised.

The only proposal I remember seeing go by with 85ish units across multiple (current) lots is the one on the east side of the Ave, somewhere around 55th. But I could easily have missed something else.

Finally, this space is just so blah in every way imaginable right now.

Wonder if it's only the area north of the dark patch? I'd love for these to be rectangular row style to ultimately wrap around the block and not square wedding cake buildings.

45th & 11th has had a fence up for a number of weeks but no sign of activity. Is this Sound Transit staging?
Meanwhile... Campus Parkway is filling in. image hosted on flickr ![]() by mSeattle, on Flickr image hosted on flickr ![]() by mSeattle, on Flickr

I don't think 45th and 11th has anything to do with ST. I think maybe another apartment project?

If it was 45th & 12th I'd think it was the 8-story hotel. Much too early for Sound Transit, except exploratory work.

Yeah the property that used to be a WSECU drive through thing across the street from the WSECU branch is owned by Sound Transit and will be used for staging, I guess because they couldn't find an adequate amount of land any closer to the site.

Nice photos. But that's 12th, not 11th, right?

As a UW employee, I'm totally bummed out by the appearance of the new dorms that are going up along Campus Parkway and vicinity. I'm wondering if the UW found a giant sale somewhere on ugly black siding and cheap-looking white window trim. The first of these -- the recently completed dorm at the NE corner of Campus Parkway and the Ave is kind of ok at the building's entrance, but the rest of it is butt-ugly.

Quote:
I'm starting to like them a little. They are VAST improvements from what was there before. They also bring some depth to the building stock in that area. That isn't too difficult given what's there, but both up close and from far off they raise the urbanity and try to have some style - in reason (they're dorms).
