Tramline on Tartu Highway could be bit long and extend all the way to Jüri and it has to have tracks turning back on same side of highway, otherwise costly tunnels are needed to allow tramlines cross the highway without interrupting car traffic.

+ Is it possible to use Miiduranna harbour freight railway branch as base for new railway line to Viimsi? It's in bad shape right now,but sections of it could be used to get trains to Viimsi. Only new track sections, which should be constructed, are between Loo & Vesse and on Viimsi peninsula, where line has to turn North.
As inland of Viimsi is quite open ground without many buildings, line could run almost at the tip of peninsula allowing any future residents in that area to use decent PT link.

I agree on the latter. The tracks should probably be on the Ülemiste lake side of Tartu road. This way only one tunnel would be needed.

An extension to Jüri might be viable but it's questionable. The official population of Jüri is less than 3,500. But then again, there is also an industrial park next to Jüri which means there are quite a few people from Tallinn who work in Jüri.

As a daily user of 1A bus line from Viru Keskus to Merivälja, I'd say no. There is, in fact, a railway straight from Vesse to Loo but the Balti Jaam - Merivälja distance is still 30km. The train/tram should average 80km/h to compete with the bus. Besides, when using this railway, there should still be a bus line to serve the people who live on the current route of 1A.

Another "future development"
green - tram
red - train (+new station)

And now, something really different:
Tallinn harbour moves to near Miinisadam (west), and old harbour will be skyscraperfront - hallelujah

From my experience, it should start from "Mähe aedlinn" stop...There actually partly is a bus lane but it can't be used because of the snow.

Hi! I have been reading Skyscrapercity more than two years (big fan of it). So I thought I come out of the closet and say also something
Here is my first utopian render.

Wouldn't it be nice to fly United States from Estonia?

It's more likley, though, that Tallinn-USA(whatever city) line would be served by some large international air company, rather than Estonian Air.

Love the plane design, hate the 'Welcome to Estonia' slogan (because it's a design fail in every way)

...Hey,how about designing a new 'Welcome to Estonia' sign? I'm sure that forumers here can make a lot better (and cheaper) design.

wow, if you make on more option, where you use Rävala 8 as inspiration or starting point. I cant see where the design uses its surrounding. Also, be more venturous!

well, pictures are just pictures, It would help if you explained what process led to those designs in the first place.

ouch. are there any particular reasons why you decided to demolish perfectly functioning residential / office / commercial buildings? or... any reasons, or better yet - ideas - behind these 'proposals'?

the main idea would be that high speed standard gauge rail baltica and extended Allegro to St Peterburg terminus would be located there.
second would be that the idea of a underground station in central tallinn is awesome.
(there's no need to demolish those building's, entrance could be like an metro one or connected to Viru Center underground bus stop)

Tincan what process do you mean?

Why would you want to get rid of the park?

^ the 'parks' of central tartu are destroyed city quarters, to be more precise (; and instead of these ruins of war, this proposal creates smaller concentrated parks and squares which are more suitable for the scale of tartu.

btw, martin, isn't there at least one planned bridge that you haven't rendered here?

Wut? It was Ch1le,who asked about what led to your designs.

I'm personally okay with everything including any new highrises and/or underground railway station.

@ Ch1le - Where are the highrises? Tartu deserves more of them and few could be placed between Kaarsild & Narva highway.
