while visiting their showcase units, i asked why they dont have a regular, indoor gym for the tenants to use and instead have an outdoor work-out area by the deck / pool area. the agent said it's more "environmentally friendly" that way..and i said "ohhhh-kay"

I wouldn't be surprised if someone opened a gym in the commercial area (if this is possible)

An outdoor gym is not as bad as it sounds and is not such a bad idea at all. I really hope that people will not view it as a negative. I think people just got used to the idea of having an airconditioned gym. Main purpose of a gym is to exercise and sweat it out so aircon should not have been an issue.

Here are a couple of advantages of an outdoor gym that i can think of:

1. save electricity (no need for aircon, lights) resulting to lower association dues
2. Fresh air while exercising (no sweaty smell which is quite common in condo gyms)

what is the main disadvantage? Guys will not be able to adore themselves in the mirror anymore!

what do you guys think? Especially for those who doesnt like the idea of an outdoor gym. What is it that you dont like. Kindly share so that we will all be able to learn something here..

it boils down to location, for me. i would love to work out in an outdoor gymn along Manila Bay. but along EDSA? even if a building serves as wall blocking EDSA off, i wouldnt even jog along this project's jogging path, if there's one.

Just visit Avida West Makati to get an idea of an actual implementation of what they define as an outdoor gym, not really a gym but it's much similar to Singapore's HDB's auntie's/uncle's playground. I would rather that they not market the gym anymore since it wouldn't be called that in real life.

Not expecting much of that outdoor gym myself, my guess is that there will be gym in the commercial/retail area to cater the needs of the residents. I still prefer an indoor gym as it's still more private. Well, I guess we can only have it in Alveo and ALP properties of Ayala Land. Not sure though if they have indoor gym in other Avida condo projects.

outdoor gym

What I can see is that you cannot use the outdoor gym if its raining or if its too hot - yun ay kung walang bubong.

nice pic gibsman. kinda reminds me of tampines. Meron din bang outdoor gym sa makati west? kasi it was not originally included in their list of amenities. Children's playground lang daw yun. Here is what is on avida's website: http://www.avidaland.com/Makati-West...and-facilities

magkano mga units dito?...So this well be our neighbor from light Residences....but i took the amenities view so I wont see it. lol I remember in that area I was having a headache weather to pick SMDC's Light, Avida Centera of the Empire East Offering Pioneer. I also considered the DCMI Offering across Edsa...In the end i went for SMDC...I hope we made the right choice....what do you guys reckon?........because I seriously considered this project.

I hope SMDC gets a project in BGC
