One of the greatest skylines, thats for sure. But what about the city itself. So far it seems more like a 'working city'. Is there any central area in Shenzhen? A big square or something with shops, museums, clubs and cultural stuff where you can walk around? This is a genuine question, I really like to know

What reference do you have to prove your claim about the height reduction? I would be very disappointed if your claim is true

There are quite a lot of shops, clubs, theme parks etc in many places scattered around the city. There are even some of the best beaches in China, and leading theme parks, although they are rarely mentioned in a skyscraper forum.

I agree despite the skyscraper developments, still a long way to go for the city to become an ideal living place, nonetheless.

The Skyhall is at L66 (331.5m) followed by a level for the BMU at 372m, which of course do not count anymore as a floor.

I currently work on the CRC Hotel tower and I do have team mates who are working on the HQ.

well what to do... if BMU level is at 372 m, means only 28 m - or less - is left for whatever crown is there above it, meaning there is no spire for sure. 66 levels is about the same as SCC (Heung Kong) tower next door, just higher floor-floor distances coz all office use, I guess. Could the spire be added back later if the height limits are relaxed?

I flew over SZ two weeks ago again, and yes it seems Qianhaiwan likely can't get rid of - even more strict - height reduction either, the only way being redirectioning of approaches to increasingly busy Bao'an airport there, something very unlikely. So, that 320 m max height in the newly released sales plots, could stay there for a long time too.

DoubleU, NShenzhen- Can you show us what the modified shorter design will look like? Will it still look good or the same?

I think DoubleU will see that first, I saw other 3 China Resources Shenzhen developments with supertalls that are right now ongoing, all over the place. It'd be funny, but they could easily build this teardrop design, even taller than 600 m if they wish, on one of those other locations they have, especially in Luohu

Incredible design. Reminds me very much of the St. Petersburg proposal. Shenzhen is unstoppable right now!

The design reminds me of 'bubbly' wraps wrapping a knife.

Indeed. All the uniqueness and the wow effect are gone. Now it is just a random middle sized supertall whose shape reminds of a bullet. Nothing too original, we have seen many cases already.

On the other hand, this drastic height reduction would mean a serious cut in the budget of the project, that China Resources could invest in both enlarging and speeding up the other supertall projects they have in Shenzhen.

Its not that bad guys.... When this tower is done everyone will like it alot Im sure. We have become so spoiled with height! 400 meters is still very tall if this was built in the 1990's everyone would be jumping for joy.
