I actually doubt that the building height will be increased again. The current status of the structural work is that a draft version of the EPR report (Expert Panel Review) was issued and at the very beginning it says: "其中华润总部大楼总高度为400米,建成后将成为整个项目发展区内最高的建筑。"
Google translator translates it to: "Resources headquarters building in which a total height of 400 meters, will be built into the development of the entire project area's highest building."
Once the EPR is passed there will be only "minor" changes like element sizing and/or element location. But sure, everything is possible here in China!

I just hope this projekt does not end with this 400m. If I am serious I hoped for a few megatalls and a sea of supertalls in Qianhai

Actually, since CRC is an extremely powerful government linked corporation (we're talking something above Citibank in its corporate punching weight capabilities) I wouldn't be surprised if they had inside sources that were advising them whether central government backed Qianhai would get a height waiver, coz it is possible only with a flight path revision which then would benefit Houhai where CRC tower is located as well.

So, to play safe, they'd have the original 525 m design and the backup 400 m design both existing... anyway, come to think of it, there is enough space on the lot to build BOTH, how about that?

building both would be great, but please make the footprint for the 400m one smaller then so it doesn't look as fat xD but in all seriousness i really do hope and think that qianhai will not end up being restricted so much, since Shenzhen plans to make this area the new masterpiece and centerpiece of the city, having the buildings be shorter than in the old area would not make for the best promotion of the new area.

The problem is... what is more important? The (already congested) Shenzhen airport flying paths, which would have to be even more substantially changed for Qianhaiwan than for the CRC Houhaiwan area (as Qianhai is practically unavoidable from the airport); or getting the landmarkish towers in the area to match or exceed what Luohu and Futian 'old' CBDs have planned?

One more thing... both Houhai and Qianhai are recently reclaimed land from the sea... technically, they may be less suitable for megatalls than Luohu or Futian - those who know Shenzhen soil conditions, please advise if wrong.

A couple of 300+ projects in Houhai / Nanshan district are already planned on reclaimed land
