Today in Shenzhendaily:

Quote:
Firm to start 460m-tall headquarters construction

THE construction of the headquarters of China Resources will start near Shenzhen Bay Sports Center in Nanshan District in April, a meeting of Nanshan District government said Monday.

Covering an area of 38,000 square meters and with a floor space of 550,000 square meters, the 460-meter-tall office building will become the third tallest building on the Chinese mainland, higher than Shenzhen’s present tallest building of Kingkey 100 which is 441.8 meters.

The Hong Kong-based China Resources decided to move its headquarters to Shenzhen after the city became its key area of investment. Of its 25 directly-controlled subsidiaries, 15 had headquarters in Shenzhen. The investment reached 47.5 billion yuan (US$7.54 billion) by the end of 2010, covering areas including real estate, retail, and finance.

The design and style of the building, a sky line along the Shenzhen Bay Park, will match Shenzhen Bay Sports Center, dubbed as Spring Cocoon, and used as the main venue for the opening of the 2011 Summer Universiade in August.

China Resources won the contract for its construction of the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center under the building operation and transfer agreement with the Shenzhen government.

The Houhai area, in which the building is located, will be the key area for Shenzhen’s development in the near future for the offshore economy and headquarters economy. Shenzhen Science Building, Shenzhen Opera House and headquarters of CNOOC, Rainbow, Alibaba and Mindray will also be built in the area.(Han Ximin)

Great news!
It's awesome that they didn't change height and design.

a map would be cool to see how far its location is away from other skylines. it seems to be quite far away from anything else though.

Yeah, it will be a spread out skyline, but on Shenzhen panoramas you can see Futian and Nanshan, so it should make a nice impact.

Here, Kingkey in the foreground and Nanshan in the background.
