Boring? How is it boring? I find it a great design! Very architecturally interesting and as you said it's original!

You also said it hasn't been built
So except for the few people who have seen the design proposed before eon here it will be original to the rest of the world! I would love to see your attempt at designing this!

Its round and tapering to the one point. You can't get more simpler than that
And if it wouldn't be so simple it wouldn't be proposed by so many random design studios. But anyways simple shapes can be beautiful too as boxes for instance, but this one seems very pretentious and cheep to me. It look like they were desperate to make it "cool" like: You know what, lets make it round, round is cool and modern eyy.. But that isn't enough when you have really no concept beside this. Because look at shanghai tower for instance, its round and it looks good because designers have some concept. And it's really irritating that wee have this teardrop concept seen so many times and some design studio just came up with it again as it was some masterpiece.

i agree it's not too original of a design, but i was waiting for a design like this becoming reality for quite a while now. and Shenzhen would be a great place for it to happen
![]() oh and i hated the web-cladding design a lot, i never liked these designs, so i am pretty excited if the new design is for real

There is still no final design. It all depends on the wind tunnel testings, approval of the Planning Bureau, etc.
There are more considerations about the shape, either triangular, circular or a square one. We simply have to wait. But it seems like it will not be a +500m tower, rather a +450m. |

Kick-off meeting for SD stage with archi's, client, consultants was on July 18. Seems the client wanna start excavation asap and do the whole site at once, with main focus on the main tower plot (~20.000m2). Guess we can excpect the start of excavation around March-May 2013.
The design/architect for the ~300m tall hotel tower beside the main tower is also not confirmed yet. |

One of their latest projects is designing a 1,640-foot-tall headquarters in Shenzhen for one of China’s largest companies, China Resources — and the 1,640-foot-radius around the building. When completed around 2017, that building is expected to be one of the tallest in China, says von Klemperer.
Katz and von Klemperer are the managing principal and design principal, respectively, of the New York-based architectural firm KPF, with offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, London, and Abu Dhabi. |
