It will be hard, but it's possible.
oh yeah, linking is forbidden, just copy the url and paste it manually into a new window again. (maybe even F5 works)
The link i posted was a list of the average height of the ten tallest buildings inside one city. for number of Supertalls (here i would refer to your list ) it is also possible. Both probably similar in terms of difficulty, but by the year of 2020 (or even sooner) anything can happen also Shenzhen still has a 400m twin and another 400m building rumored, so only future can tell really.

Hmm, strange - yes the local land authorities should have told CRC, after all an ultrabig and powerful corporate entity even on the mainland - that there is height limit there upfront... or maybe, if they knew it, and still wanted a landmark tower, CRC would have gone to Futian instead to seek land? So local authorities wouldn't have gotten the land sale done then.

And then, as Zorg mentioned in the projects page, that 800 m proposal for Qianhaiwan, which is even closer to the flight path, http://finance.sina.com.cn/china/dfj...14332462.shtml doesn't make any sense, isn't it?

Yea, you're right that if the lantern is cut out and a flat helipad-like roof put together, they could pretty much keep the original 80++ floors and just widen the top floors a bit, and get the job done at 400 m. Cutting floor heights, though, would still be a potentially counterproductive move, as the tower needs to be future proof for new raised floor/ceiling etc requirements over next 50 - 100 years, I guess...

Alternatively, put an 'expandable' design in place like BlueCrossBlueShield in Chicago a decade ago, allowing for future addition of the lantern/spire once the rules are changed. There;s a big difference between 400 and 525 m here, as the building will be surrounded by several 300 - 350 m towers like HeungKong, 1 Shenzhen Bay, Hanking tower, Chuneng at Dachong, all within 2 km or less... and these are all a grade below or even less owners than CRC.

Personally, if it was up to me, and I was so powerful and well connected like CRC, I would have not given up, and in fact asked for more height, in China you have to aggressive and not be too nice, I experienced it first hand unfortunately...

As it seems right now the tower will be built with the reduced height to 400m. And I highly doubt that they will change and revise it a third time. Still, 400m is quite tall compared to most of the ~200m towers at the CBD in Futian and I can imagine while driving towards Houhai on Binhai Dadao it will be an impressive sight.

Yup, it'll be lucky if it's still in the top 3 of the district within the end of the decade.

Also a lot of vacant space around. I guess that will be filled with towers as well?

On Soul lotte tower ? I think it is similar to the 400m development in st Petersburg. The soul lotte center has clear differences to this one.
