Ok, so I don't wanna sound like a retard but seriously, what's the function of a grain elevator?

Its because zurich has no industry, its a charmless financial town (tax evaders from all over the world keep their money in zurich), and now they wanna pretend to be an industrial town because zurich people claim themselves to be cool and trendy. thats it.

But the main reason is simply because the grain mill company is located there.

now that we are aldready off topic, i never felt zürich was charmless in any way. and i cant see how the financial sector would be stealing away any charm.

however the project is so-so. it looks like some wwII relict, which is a really bad referrence.

reminds me of this 120m tower in frankfurt - it is 50 years old though, and there are plans to either convert it to apartments or demolish and replace it with a new tower.

Are industrial buildings allowed in the forum? It is not a skyscraper IMO.

Rübezahn just doesn't like Zurich. Don't take this guy too serious, he's just jealous and angry because the town where he lives is a lot smaller than Zurich...

I don't know an alternative forum in the global part to post this project.

I can promise I will update this thread with interesting photos from the construction progress when the tower is under construction.

The SCC Forum, yes; the Highrises subforum, I don't know.

Why shouldn't it be? Looks like a highrise to me. Not much tought into design i see, maybe more gracious appearance like Schapfen Mill would be easier to swallow for the community living near this.

It would be a nice grain elevator if they would paint him in different colours. Or lighten him with LED-lights all over the surface.
