Well I'm just trying to get inside the mind of over zealous health and safety people, inside the stadium is probably fine for wild lighting effects but the exits probably have very strict criteria and knowing some visually impaired people myself they can struggle to find contrast if a room is only one colour as colours can change their appears under different colours. I personally hope their is colour but just thinking why they might have changed their minds.

So, is the big above hospitality just not getting finished? To be fair, I've not seen a TV shot of that side of the stadium yet.

![]() ![]() ![]() Mmm. It does look rather odd. Without trying to be too moany, because I love the wrap, this must have been thought about at an early stage. Bizarre. |

I'm sure they'll complete it before the games start.

So why exactly have they left it partially incomplete anyway? Sorry, missed this. Is it a necessity for the transportation of some particularly large prop/apparatus re the opening ceremony?
If so, is it conceivable that said prop/apparatus are removed immediately after the ceremony - ie by say, 3am - with the wrap being completed by 8am ish?? Or is that laughable? |

Well, it's certainly a bit odd leaving it to the last minute. I certainly wouldn't have planned it this way (I'd have had the wrap on well over a month ago), but they won't leave half the stadium with a big gaping ugly hole in it, believe me.

I didn't for a minute think we had! It's all been a bit one-dimensional so far.

Gotta say I hate the wrap. No problem with building a sustainable stadium, but can't help feel the original wrap render was sooo beautiful, compensating for any shortcomings of the stadium. Ultimately, it is a shame, but so far, at least on American TV (NBC) we see constant images of the stadium behind the studio, and little else, and it looks kinda bland to me--like it's wrapped in a shower curtain. I have seen nothing, for instance, of the rather beautiful Olympic Park (lovely gardens by the looks of it). Perhaps one thing is true: a stunning stadium can compensate for all kinds of average venues elsewhere. London has a good stadium and many many fine venues--but it is the stadium that seems to draw the focus, at least here in the States, rather overshadowing everything else.

I lied. I just saw some pictures of the equestrian event for about five seconds. Looked stunning. Wish they would show more variety over here on NBC.

Surely NBC (being the size they are), are doing something similar to the BBC where they stream all events on satellite? If not, it would seem strange - I thought Americans were really into their sports.

Yes, to be fair, they are. But only if you have access to their cable news channels. If you don't have their cable channels you cannot watch online either. The main TV coverage is fine in itself, but it focuses on a handful of events--aquatics, gymnastic and beach volleyball.
