Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) - Five different points of view

I was born in Rio and I have always lived here. In this thread I would like to show you five different skylines and points of view of my city.

Pics were taken by me between 2009 and 2010.

1) TOURISTIC POINT OF VIEW (South zone, upper middle class residential area and touristic district)

2) COMMERCIAL/FINANCIAL POINT OF VIEW (Dowtown, commercial and financial district)

DECADENCE POINT OF VIEW (Harbour area, a decadent residential and commercial district. Currently, the city of Rio is carrying out a revitalization plan called Porto Maravilha)

RESIDENTIAL POINT OF VIEW (Tijuca, a middle class residential district)

POVERTY POINT OF VIEW (Complexo do Alemão, a working class slum/district in the suburbs of Rio)

Thanks for the compliments...

Every city has lots of faces (most of them unknow to the common traveller). A visitor that spends days, weeks or even months will never be able to know and experience them all.

I tried to sum up some of Rio's faces here. Of course there are lots more...

The ugly face of Rio.

Beautiful and ugly, paradise and chaos, rich places and slums... It's Rio. It is interesting to show the non-touristic places in the city.

Today Rio de Janeiro celebrates its 446th anniversary. It was founded in march, 1st, 1565 by the portuguese military officer Estacio de Sa, to expel french colonizers that had settled in the region.
