Cities whose tallest building ever constructed was demolished

There are some cities whose tallest building ever built has been demolished, like Hagen, Germany. They had a 100-metre tall tower nicknamed "Long Oskar". It was built in 1975 and imploded in 2004. Another case is New York City, who lost their World Trade Centre to an abysmal terrorist attack. Have there been any other such cases?

Lincoln Cathedral 525ft spire (2ft higher than the Great Pyramid of Cheops) lost in a hurricane. It would have been the tallest building in the Western hemisphere in 1549.

The Jetavanaramaya Stupa in Sri Lanka, built in the 2nd Century AD may have been the tallest building in the world, and is comparable in bulk to the Egyptian pyramids:

The stupa spire has broken off, which would have put it well over 500ft, but it now is 400ft with just the stump. It cover 5.6 hectares.

Christchurch in New Zealand may lose it's tallest building in the city due to the earthquake 3 days ago. It may collapse soon (it's sagging and apparently missing a few floors internally) or they'll have to demolish it once rescue/recovery operations are finished.

The real tallest building in Christchurch is a 76m office tower, and the hotel is shorter by 6 metres.
