From Nice Day Website (Developer Company building the tower)
Quote:
Situated in the heart of Nicosia – between Eleftheria Sq and Makariou Avenue –on Stasinou Avenue this fourteen-storey building will be the most spectacular in the capital and will be designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel. The ground floor and the mezzanine areas will be comprised of shops and/or restaurants with 6 floors of offices above them. The top 10 floors will be comprised of 9 unique luxurious apartments overlooking the whole capital.

On the south facade large planting areas ( on each floor) are to be planted so as to create a vertical “green” screen modulating the sunlight that reaches the interior of the apartments. On east-west, concrete walls create a “bi-dimensional” image of nature, where the surfaces deal
with the technological in its most emblematic form. The graphic surfaces of the east, west and south facade give way to a dynamic 3 dimensional elevation on the north.
One gets the sense that the building is expanding and contracting as the balconies slide in and out changing their width and depth.

The Tower is infront of the new Square designed by Zaha Hadid around the ancient Walls, creating a new modern cityscape uniting the old and new Nicosia

Updates from the Tower

although this is not even a highrise, it is a very tall building for Cyprus and probably the tallest when completed. this will not be for long though as new building regulations will allow soon much taller buildings to be built and there have already been announcements of buildings up to 40 stories and 130 m tall

I am goinf to answer BUT please don't make this a political forum because it will be deleted!

This thread is about the capital of the internationally-recognised republic of Cyprus. Nicosia is currently divided after bicommunal violence between the greekcypriots and turkish cypriots and with the Greek Jounta's attempt to overthrow the government and the immediet military intervention by Turkey in 1974. The Turkish-administered North is not a recognised political entity and the republic of Cyprus is the only state recognised to have control over the island. Currently negotiations are underway between the two communities for reunification. Some checkpoints along the borders have opened in these years to allow some communication between the two parts of the divided capital.

This is a general and objective summary of the events. This is a forum on a building though so don't continue the political discussion, any further questions you can send me a message

I think it looks interesting. It probably would look nice at night if the holes were illuminated.

The holws will be illuminated and also it will be painted white, like the render. Most of the holes are windows and will have reflective glass.. It is going to be very impressive I believe
