Looks good to me.
Lets build it!

The parking garage is horrible.

The building itself is not horrible -- not terribly exciting -- but not horrible. I like that the balconies are "hidden" within the building's profile, and do not jut out of the exterior.
That being said, agree with all of you that the parking garage is a bit offensive as it lies directly along LSD. Ideally, the building's lobby (which also isn't that bad) would face LSD, but at that point, LSD already becomes a bridge and I can see how they would rather have the lobby face Grand St. as opposed to the base of LSD. Nonetheless, would hope that they could find a way to do something about the garage -- if they can't point it away from LSD, perhaps they could at least put in building-quality glass, like Trump? Either way, at least it looks more appealing than the base at North Pier Apts, I think. |

A great filler for an empty lot which is part of the Chicago Central Area Plan. I say have it approved and start construction soon...unless a design change is imminent.

The green wall is the only good part... so at least Reilly's hold is to make sure its green all year.
But honestly, could we please just have the old design back? The Peshtigo was so much better, not to mention 600 feet. Perkins and Will know what they are doing.... SCB, not so much. (or they do, in a cynical way) |

It appears they started doing something on this site, they put a fence around it and started tearing up the parking lot that was there. Anyone have any news?

Here's a picture update of the site:
Edit: can't figure out how you resize an image in vbulletin (apparently width=X and height=X doesn't actually do anything), so here's a direct link to the image: http://i.imgur.com/JL5LB.jpg Last edited by asauterChicago; September 1st, 2011 at 09:31 PM. |

Ugh... Related Midwest can go fuck themselves. So can the Chicago Plan Commission for not requiring underground parking and still having a parking ratio minimum instead of simply a maximum.

But I do agree. The footprint of the garage could be put to much, much better use... Even with the nifty green wall that I'm sure will back up traffic on LSD all the way to Belmont. |

Im tired of seeing this great city get screwed over by a dim witted planning board a endless parade of money hungry developers and their crony "architects". Streeterville was a wasted opportunity, River North has been ravaged, the South Loop caught a break with the recession, the West Loop/Fulton Market is still intact, Bronzeville was razed, Maxwell Street neutered..... it goes on and on in this city.
Its high time for the dog to start wagging the tail again. btw ...thanks for agreeing |
