La Giralda de Sevilla: 82 meters in 1198, increased height of 101 meters in 1568.

Built firstly as the alminar for the main mosque of the city while Al-Andalus was ruling in south Spain, it became the tallest structure of Europe. Firstly, it was as seen in the left. An eartquake provocated the fall of the 3 golden balls in the top, so the aspect became the one in the right. Today, it looks like the one in the center, after it heights was increased by christians in the XVI century for colocating a bell room and a statue in the top representing the faith.

Centuries later, it has been the model for another towers. The first Madison Square was a copy of it, and since then, several other buildings in the USA took the same model. Also, in Kansas City and Miami there are direct copies of La Giralda.
Moreover, in the XVIII century was the model for orthodoxian churches in Russia, which later were the model for soviet buildings in the time of Stalin, provocating similarities between it and famous towers of cities such Moscow and Warsaw.
We can find some other copies in Belgium (Leuven), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro, which was lost), Paris (for the 1898 expo).
and of course Spain: Badajoz, Barcelona, Carmona, Gijón, L'Arboç (Tarragona), Lebrija...
