Great news on Monarch!!

Is Hatchford Brook golf course under BCC control? Because that is a very sought after piece of land I think for any other hangars, taxiways etc. Sorry to any golfers out there!

Potentially, although remember the extra room made on the other side of the old Elmdon ATC when the runway extension is finished could also be used.

From that video, it looks as if Birmingham's will be around 5 times the size of that one at Luton, it may well make others look at Birmingham as an option for aircraft maintenance as well.

Huge expansion plans will be announced at BHX over the next 12 months, both in terms of infrastructure & airlines at the airport.

A friend & pilot who flies out of BHX and lives in our village (cannot name the airline) says that he has heard that a South East Asian airline has an eye on the city. Great news!

Great news seems to be some very hard working and committed people at the airport getting things done

Well it seems the runway extension is already bringing rewards, these big planes can't easily land at BHX (even if they are unloaded).
Was asking a Thompson rep about the big advertising campaign with the Dreamliner, and they said they can't include Brum yet due to the runway length... so you have to assume Monarch have taken the runway extension into account.
The extension will undoubtedly open up new oportunities...just wish we could reduce our landing fees and make us more competetive

I thought the Dreamliner was made for shorter runways ?? And I'm not aware the 2 emirates 777's seem to have much trouble stoping before the end

I think TUI are taking the view that the runway is too short whilst they're bedding it in hence why its being used out of East Mids.

Nothing specific that wasn't already known I'm afraid. Just the generic spiel Meetings continue to be held with airlines in China, North America and the Middle East with a view to establishing new services from Birmingham in the future.

On the up side Air freight was up almost 9% on the same period last year and BHX seems to be focusing on targeting corporate travel with recent meetings with KPMG, Caterpillar, JCB, Eon, JLR and some other firms.

It seems to be working as UA reported a 31% increase in bookings with one particular corporate travel firm (JTA).

Other than that there was an overview of future marketing campaigns. Expect to see Turkish Airlines taxis buzzing around town for quite a while yet!

Brilliant stuff.. haven't checked the full report but this should provide lots of opportunities for young apprentices to get on... Engineering saving the day, yet again....

Ryanair dropping their 2x weekly BHX-BUD. Blaming airport charges at the BUD end.
