Olympics Flights......
With the Olympics just over a month away, I wonder If anyone has anymore Ideas or read anything about the - type, number and details about the visiting/transiting or storage a/c that are due or expected to come to BHX.
I have found a brill pdf that shows the airports/airfields highlighted to be used for this event, and Interestingly outside of London, Birmingham Is the closest large scale airport planned to be used. Others Include Biggen, Blackbush, Lydd, Oxford, Manston, Bournemouth, Southhampton, Brighton, and abit further East Mids, but what realy supprised me was no mention of Manchester? So does anyone have anymore Info? |

News from Business Desk
New £5m business aviation centre opens at Birmingham Airport CHARTERED plane company Eurojet Aviation has opened its new £5m business aviation centre at Birmingham Airport. Eurojet, which is also involved in aircraft management and maintenance, has also received approval from Cessna Aircraft Company for the centre to become an authorized citation service facility. The 41,000 sq ft building also includes a commercial operations centre and aircraft sales suite as well as a crew lounge, crew kitchen, private studies, flight planning room, shower facilities and a ‘snooze room‘ with individual softly lit ‘dens’. Eurojet’s managing director Graeme Campbell said: “Our objective for the Eurojet Business Aviation Centre at Birmingham was simple - to create one of the finest private aviation handling and maintenance facilities in Europe. With the tremendous support of Birmingham Airport, Cessna and our other service partners, we are confident that we have achieved this.” Campbell is hoping that the forthcoming London Olympics could provide a business boost. “We are confident that this new world-class facility, located at such a centrally located 24hr airport with exceptional road and rail links to London, provides yet another compelling reason for operators and their clients to consider Birmingham as a very viable option when travelling to the capital this summer,” he said. Will Heynes, development director at Birmingham Airport, said: “Here at Birmingham Airport we are always looking at ways to appeal to all markets and this is shown with the opening of the new Eurojet facility. “We are sure this new venture will be a fantastic addition to the airport’s portfolio.” |

i read on another thread a month or two ago that birmingham will play a big role in the parking of chartered jets for the olypics... many people where they can will fly direct into the lond, but the cost and logistics of parking planes there will be too much for most people, which is where i believe birmingham will be coming in.
also with birmingham being a training base for some teams, im be surprised not to see something different at birmingham!

Anyone have any statistics for travel between BHX and India, to see the difference between before Air India left and after.

Ryanair Announces 4 New Routes From Birmingham From November 2012
Barcelona El Prat -4 weekly flights Krakow - 2 weekly flights Milan Bergamo - 3 weekly flights Palma De Mallorca - 2 weekly flights Great to see Krakow but I do hope the other three aren't Ryanairs typical way of seeing off the competition. |

On the flip side at least Ryanair feel the need to defend their BHX operation given it's been so static for so long but agree it is a frustrating tactic.
