32 Days in HK, Part I of IV: Hong Kong Island

What started out as a 10 day vacation ended up being an over a month extended stay. 32 days later, airplane ticket changed twice, HK permanent citizenship received, and bunch of memories, experiences, and photos.

I had too many photos from different areas to fit in one thread so I've separated them into four parts. Part one is HK island, and I'll unveil the other three sets when I have time to upload them onto flickr and post here.

Feel free to ask for larger or original sizes. Check out my flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/roxxstarr/

The typical postcard shots

I was told that this would be the last of the reclamation done on the HK side on Victoria Harbour.

Far western urban area, Kennedy Town.

Western Market, Sheung Wan. It was my first time visiting this place and I was a bit disappointed. I was expecting an actual market like St. Lawrence in Toronto or a western style wet market.

Sheung Wan was an alright area. Mish-mash of everything. It certainly earned its name of Chinatown of HK. There are streets lined with only dried Chinese goods such as Shark fin, and abalone. Chinatown but with 40 storey buildings offcourse.

Everything started becoming a bit more prestigious as I gradually hiked up towards the Mid-Levels.

One of the most exhilarating views and feelings in HK was standing on this overpass looking down.

I found SoHo to be a lot better than Lan Kwai Fong. More spots in a larger area to check out.

Buildings from 3 different centuries. Looks more like a collage than actual photo.

Lan Kwai Fong. This was taken at 11:00 AM. Gets a lot busier during the evening and night.

Causeway bay. My favourite area in all of HK. Bustling, energetic, hip, young, fashionable.

I REALLY enjoyed visiting HK, but for the most part, the city is a dump.
