HAIKOU | Haikou Tower | 428m | 1404ft | 94 fl | U/C

There're 10 proposals according to the press, but I've seen this render only.

for china its not the biggest city and still it might get a 380m building, thats cool, but still crazy for a city under a million inhabitants, but well it lies on an island so it makes sense i guess

More and better renders
http://www.hkwb.net/news/content/201...ent_238244.htm

Architects. I'm not sure which studio designed which one. I only know Wilkinson Eyre designed the 8th proposal.

Zaha Hadid + The Architectural Design & Research Institute of Guangdong.
Wilkinson Eyre + Shenzhen HSArchitects.
Architecture Design & Research Institute of the South China University of Technology.
HENN GmbH + China IPPR International Engineering.
Scott Wilson Hong Kong + ECADI.
Broadway Malyan + SIADR.
Zeidler Partnership + Beijing Institute of Architectural Design.
CADREG + IBI Group Beijing branch.

Proposal 1: 450m.

Proposal 2: 448m.

Proposal 3: 368m.

Proposal 4: 468m.

Proposal 5: 405m.

Proposal 6: 430m.

Proposal 7: 406m.

Proposal 8: 400m.

No idea about the architects. The 7th proposal looks so Murphy/Jahn-ish.

I've found the architects and more renders here:
http://news.hainan.net/newshtml08/20...1/740712f0.htm

So I've edited the post above to add them.

Proposal 1 looks amazing!
Proposal 2 looks cool but not really my thing.
Proposal 3 looks a bit to much like ST, but is amazing.
Proposal 4 just sucks overall.
Proposal 5 is weird as hell but is just amazingly futuristic.
Proposal 6 should be built in dubai.
Proposal 7 is sick but i don't think they would choose that.
Proposal 8 is great but a bit uncreative and not flashy enough for me.
A pretty tough choice i say. Does any body know the exact location?

my two cents
1 - nice, tall, amazing
2 - probably my favorite. it is something unique we had not yet for twins and might really give the city its own skyline image
3 - i agree on the ST similarity, but still think it is also a nice design, could be taller though x)
4 - strangest design, reminds me a bit of ICC in Hong Kong, but the color is strange in the render. I have no idea what it would look like if it was build in reality. I'm torn on this project, but am still not against it, it may all be about the cladding. Also it's the tallest out of the 8
5 - First i was like: MEH, UGLY. A strange design, that still is very interesting. similar to the twins in Paris, it has this upside down feeling and i kinda like it on the second look
6 - Very very nice design, one of the best ones, the top looks like a snail i really like that, i am not sure if a design like this works for twins as good as it would work for one building, but it's amazing
7 - i do not understand this building right now. A form of architecture that is not common is always an eye catcher though, it reminds me of a scraper i saw in singapore which looked flat from nearly every side and made me WTF all the way, so would this if it was built.
8 - It is very similar to the Guangzhou twins that were supposed, but only one was built. I like it, it's like a second chance for everyone who wanted Guangzhou IFC to be a twin so hard
