Some nice pics and work. But most appear to have been updated with the communist legacy of prison-like plainness.

Actually, most of it dates back to 20' or 30', so it is the way the buildings looked like originally. The pictures was taken in one of the suburb districts of pre-war Warsaw called Mokotów, consisiting housing for middle and upper middle class.

very nice restorations of interwar modern mansions (kamienice) in Mokotow, one of the few suburbs of Warsaw that escaped complete destruction during WWII.

It's a pity, there are two versions of colour scheme on one coherent building.
The one on the right hand side is far better.

Man the facade work is really nice but it just never feels complete when the windows aren't restored.

I suggest reading up a bit on architecture from the 30s. They were designed like that.

I suggest you attempt to grasp the point before taking on the role of giving advice you may need yourself.

If you thought it through, your point that "they were designed like that" makes no sense after you stated the windows were not restored. Can't be both.

The windows were carelessly replaced and mismatched during the past few decades, so it would be nice if they were restored to the way they looked in the 30s.

Thanks God for fireproof construction

Yes, that would be an improvement, but as they are, they help create the overall look that displays a stark communist-style appearance.

The uniform, coherent facade was divided in two by different color schemes - "yellow" on the left and "white" on the right. It shouldn't be like that. The building is symmetrically designed and shouldn't be divided - that's what I wanted to say.

I agree, but it's another issue.

Oh I wasn't replying to just your post but all of them in general. The recent examples restored the facades very nicely. Except the windows

Excellent films showing the density of built form in Warsaw in 1940 and those who live there now probably won't believe it:

Who will you never forgive? Let me remind you that nazi- Germany does not exist since 1945 and the people responsible for it are dead since a long time.
Perhaps it will satisfy you, that Allies leveled to the ground almost all German cities, so in this comparison, Polish cities suffered less during World War 2.

I had a feeling I probably shouldn't have posted those. Anyway, let's not get into this too much. What happened to Warsaw is incomparable in the annals of history since the destruction of Carthage. No German or other city suffered such complete destruction. Let's keep the discussion on Warsaw and not start comparing and saying hateful things. Yes it still hurts sometimes but those people are indeed long dead and we have a very different neighbour on our western flank now.
