I like these pictures that show many eras of Warsaw development from 19th, 20th, communist and the contemporary city of skyscrapers.

Yes, the Museum of Warsaw History is located in those buildings. Interiors works are underway, the basements are done and open to the public, a tender is underway for the design of a covered atrium in the courtyard in the rear to house additional exhibition space.

Fantastic news! I visited this district last summer and I felt like I was in a different city. Definitely more rustic and old school.

that was the fastest like I ever got, thanks bud and yes Praga is really coming around and the new metro stops will accelerate that. Koneser complex is building out with further restorations as well and soon Pollenna factory lofts will launch not to mention lots of other smaller kamienice and of course my favourite Konopackiego Palac, the oldest in Praga whose restoration is starting soon (tender launched):

Just had to post Ring's recent photo-essay on Warsaw's development and the reconstruction of street faces through infill, tasteful restorations, new building in the sacrosanct old town, historic view corridors terminated with new skyscrapers and old buildings like the Hotel Europejski with new life breathed into them. Enjoy

Controversial infill on Miodowa/Senatorska nears completion. Some finishing touches needed to blend it in better

Warsaw's first 7 star Raffles Hotel with add on and complete rebuild and restoration. Largely original 1850's fašade will get a much needed facelift. The army rebuilt this hotel post war and when I stayed there in the 90's the crudeness of the rebuild showed despite the wonderful buffet this old world hotel offered.

The crane and rising Q22 tower terminates the view axis along Traugutta street. The tower will rise another 20 floors. Similar situations are occurring all around Warsaw, the most controversial being Plac Unii Tower looming over the Belvedere Palace.

A few more examples of this interesting juxtaposition courtesy of Lolekibolek

New childrens hospital a stone's throw from the Copernicus Monument

A tight street face terminated in the distance by the new hospital

Infill on Dynasy Street

A new mural or rather subliminal ad for Coke to keep the Chopin mural company...not sure about this.

A suitably scaled new development completes the streetline.

Corner infill where buildings have stood for centuries but not post war until now

What was there pre-war

Infill along Warecka will frame and blend in Palace of Culture while adding new density and life to what was once a vital crossroads.

Corner infill abutting Grzybowska Square - the amorphous area famous for its Prozna Street ruins is finally after a recent building boom acquiring a sense of place

Grzybowska Street canyon completed

Another tower terminates this vista

thanks again Ring for your amazing pics

This expanse of land in Wola is the last undeveloped area remaining in central Warsaw aside from the area around the Palace of Culture. Sights like this are such a poetic testament to all that was lost, a few forlorn islands of history, and the vast difference in the scale of construction now versus what existed here pre-war:
