One of the most iconic examples of Warsaw's reconstruction is Krasinski Palace, known also as Palace of the Commonwealth.
Built between 1688 and 1699 by Jan Dobrogost Krasiński, voivod of Płock voivodship and starost of Warsaw.
Designed by Tylman van Gameren, Dutch who settled in Poland, one of the greastest architects of his time.
Full history with pictures, here (site of the National Library of Poland): http://bn.org.pl/palace/history-of-the-palace

Destroyed completely in 1944 durign Warsaw Uprising, restored in 1948-1961 and handed over to the National Library of Poland.
In 2014-2016 renovated thanks to the support of Norway Grants and Polish funds.

Warsaw Christmas lights are some of the nicest in Europe. No exaggeration.
I haven't seen Warsaw all lit up at Christmas yet (in person), but I plan to in the future. I know Wilanow looks great too during Christmas.

Restoration of Krasinski Palace. Only in Polish bit images speak louder than words.

Just wanted to say I am a HUGE fan of the reconstructions in Warsaw and Poland (in general). If at all possible, I will donate next time I am in Warsaw.

Very beautiful city. It's fantastic how it has and is still being recovered from the destruction of the war and the communism.

...and the wise man said to the @#+! -

...you can keep the old bush - but it is weak, small and fading.
But if you CUT the bush RIGHT down to the ground -
the bush will grow again - but even BIGGER, brighter, stronger
and more beautiful than ever before.

nothing will ever be the same again, and those millions who perished for stupid aggression will not come back and make the brilliant contributions they might have made, but Warsaw has the potential to become something much more exciting, if not traditionally beautiful, if it succeeds in synthesizing all its disparate parts into something unique and possibly jarring.

Koszyki Hall

Visited Koszyki Hall turns out to be in my opinion a major disappointment.

The hall has been beautifully renovated by Jems and also the modern buildings added at the side and now one last one on front, are great.
However you can hardly call the Koszyki Hall a food market and no way comparable to other European food markets.
The hall is mainly occupied by bars - the central hall of the market is basically one large open American cocktail bar and a German beer pub. There are a few cafeterias and restaurants including a Sushi bar but I did not actually notice any food market in this place, apart from the usual Piotr & Pawel (which you can find in other shopping center in Warsaw) a tiny fish stall and a small restaurant selling some goods on the side. Also great mystery, there is a bookshop (maybe food for the brain?).
I really cannot imagine anybody going there to shop for food. It's a great place to have a drink or a meal, but seriously it is not a food market....

If you want a food market you should rather check Hala Mirowska and the surrounding bazzar or new Zieleniak, Koszyki is more like a shopping center.
