I didn't even know which building you were talking about for a bit. It doesn't stand out at all. Give me a break.

If you didn't find it, even though I clearly explained how it looks and where it is located (modern, grey roof, opposite the palace) then your are not very perceptive anyway and thus not a good judge if something stands out or not. It stands out clearly in an area that is otherwise exemplarily reconstructed.

signum temporis. I would have preferred a reconstruction (below) but I can live with this, it looks good at ground level.

sorry can't find a better pic

A Few Updates:

Polna Corner unveiled from one side:

the challenge will be those truncated facades on the right when a new street was cut through here post war

thanks kafarek

Koszykowa/Piekna Building (repair of a landmark corner but with no restoration of prewar building) still not unveiled

thanks Ring and Fredi

Restoration of Plac Napoleona (Napoleon Square). Although it will not be restored exactly to its pre appearance the planting of numerous shade trees, shrubs, flowers and outdoor furniture will really bring back the spirit of the original square

Pre war

thanks arkadiusz

Zlota 1 - exterior except new windows complete, interior works continue:

btw all the buildings in the background are original pre war

thanks kafarek (except interiors)

a curious restoration and add-on on Lipowa

thanks Mimas1789

University of Warsaw

thanks zyclunt

It's not that bad. It could have been worse.

Roof should have been assimilated to the colour, material and texture of the surrounding buildings. From an ariel perspective it looks cheap and out of place. I look at it and it makes me feel the same arrangement of emotions when I see houses made of siding.

Napoleon Square needs a militant army of bulldozers to come through and eradicate some of the buildings. I won't pretend to be familiar with the intricacies of the Square, though none of the buildings strike me as residential or registered under some conservation. So let destruction commence.

Saw some fresh pictures of the aforementioned cleaned Palace of Culture museum. I'll tell you what, I'm suddenly a proponent of leaving things as they are The dirt on the unwashed bricks created a sort of kitchen backsplash mosaic that is much more pleasing on the eye than the bland cleaned portion I did see.

Truth be told, I have been drinking a Portuguese neighbour's home made wine. This could very well be the early signs of loss of sight and with it a deformed perception of what is present in front of me in this 21st pixelated century we call life.

The fašade of this building will be undergoing restoration very shortly as well. It stands next to the recently renovated fašade of Zgoda 1 (last below):
