Tiaren, I can see what you mean there are similarities between Krakowskie Przedmiescie and Unter Den Linden in that the style is decidedly neoclassical. However, on KP we have some baroque churches from the 15th century so KP is a very old thoroughfare which explains its somewhat meandering configuration. UDL looks very symmetrical, does this suggest along with the relatively newer 18th/19th architecture that this allee was laid out more recently?
From what I know the UDL goes from the Brandenburg Gate to the (former?) Royal Palace and out to what once was countryside. Similar to KP it is lined with lovely palaces leading up to the palace.

Great updates! BTW, the church I was referring to earlier was the round one. I wasn't sure what it's name is. It's still pretty, even in a simplified form!

15th century would't mean baroque. Anywhere. Saint Anna might come from about half a century later than this time, but that's only the oldest part, that you can see from Mariensztat, just the presbytery. Then the nave was baroque, but from like two centuries later, and the facade, in Aigner's classicism is from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.

thanks for that clarification Filip01. I meant 16th century but like many old churches they have accretions from different eras. The oldest church on KP is the Carmelites Churchh of St. Joseph from abotu 1680, St. Anne's was built and rebuilt many times since it's founding in 1454, but it is safe to say it is largely a 16th/17th century church.

He is indeed a good photographer. Now just wait until I go to Warsaw in May
![]() By the way you can't even tell that there was an apocalyptic war in Warsaw at one point. |

So glad your showing Praga, the unknown Warsaw, as so much of it is authentic and quite beautiful but rundown. Would love to see more pics of Praga, hope that when you go in May you will do a thorough photoreportage for us
![]() btw, what street is that in Praga in the photos.

I will Urbanista. Do you know how long the walk is across the river from the old Town area?

I would say about 1/2 hour because you're going across the Pilsudski bridge so you have to walk up Nowy Swiat to Jerozolimskie before you cross. I'm going in June.

Ostrogoski Palace, founded by Duke Janusz Ostrogoski. In the 1680's Crown Treasurer Jan Gninski commisioned Dutch architect Tylman van Gameren to design this palace. It was destroyed in the Warsaw Uprising in 1944.
Before (the buildings in the lower foreground are gone.) ![]() Now it is the Chopin Museum ![]()

Not too much money is being poured into the Praga district but I wish they would. It would be quite a beautiful place in the city to visit. Most buildings have been rotting since WWII.
