The black stripe makes it look terrible. Belka should go on more dinners to ask for a new building.

True, Belka should ask to demolish this awful piece of architecture and build something stylish or at least rebuild pre-war buildings.

Praga Borough Museum At the Finish Line

The new museum included the restoration and in some cases modernization of 4 of the oldest structures on the right bank of the Vistula and the construction of a new building:

It looks like it turned it very well, the interior promises to very impressive given all of the archeological finds unearthed during restoration.

thanks zbieraj

one neighbour at 56 Targowa, just north of the Bazar Rozycki, is already getting a thorough restoration, but the one on the right of the frontal panorama above has been awaiting better times far too long. fingers crossed.

They could rebuild the fašade of that building and a modern building behind it, it would look so much better. That square really lacks any sense of place.

Main Building of the Warsaw Politechnic University gets a facelift. Built in around 1899-1902, the building designed by Stefan Szyller was very badly damaged during the war, but completely rebuilt with an extended southwestern wing:

pre-war:

Just to add: the most beautiful part of the building is the hall inside

The interior looks very original. Is it?

This Polish article indicates there is some experimental new project for Pilsudski Square, where the Saski should be rebuilt. I hope it's not serious.

Experimental new project? I don't like the sound of that.

Don't worry. It is a provocation to think about the possible problems of the reconstruction of the palace, making it the new city hall. They used the 'Rotunda' building, which stands, close to the Palace of Culture, for the image.

As to the originality of the Warsaw Politechnika inside; I think it is original, but maybe Urbanista can confirm .

Thanks JanVL, the politechnika like many buildings in this area survived relatively intact and is mostly original. According to the original post war BOS documentation:

To paraphrase briefly: The famous roof was destroyed, about 60% of the interior burned but the main hall mostly intact. It was suitable for restoration as opposed to demolition and reconstruction.

So is that stained glass roof pretty much like the original? Or was the original roof more ornate? Either way, that interior is incredible.

I have been searching for pictures from before the war, but can't find them.

The National Digital Archive also only has one picture which shows only part of the roof, but not the whole. It looks more or less the same.
