All I can see is with the opening up of democracy the road network can only get better. Nice pictures

You can't say they don't plan for the future here. 20 lanes of (no) traffic.

Apparently designed to be used as runway for (military) aircraft if need be. No physical median whatsoever ...

Naypyidaw - Yangon Expressway

They had prepaid payment for tolls!

One of its exits

Rather simple exit signs

You can see a lot of Myanmar's road pictures in the link of the photographer above

The two signs shows Burmese numerals. My thought is the sign in first picture shows the maximum weight to cross the bridge ၁၃: (13 tons). The second picture is a speed limit sign ၃๐ (30 mph?)

What do you need when an 18-lane road intersects a 8-lane road? Yes, a roundabout.

Or just an uncontrolled intersection:

Too bad for Myanmar..
This <<expressway>> is wide enough and it could have been of much better quality, like in Europe.
But instead it has a concrete surface and it seems poorly maintained.....

They could probably re-use the grading for that huge wide road and rebuild with a normal configuration of lanes.

Staying alive on the ‘highway of death’

A lengthy English-language article about the safety problems on the Yangon - Mandalay Expressway. Since 2009, over 600 people have been killed on this expressway.
