Btw thanks for the info. I dont see why would germans want to develop Milan as a hub? Don't they want some traffic from Milan as well? It just sounds too good to be true.

When I said "the new airplanes", I was reffering to Tarom and CSA. I know because AF wanted serbian Jat Airways in SkyTEAM, but in return they wanted serbian government to purchase some airbus airplanes for Jat.

I-DEIG

Btw is this airplane sold? One of their last runs to YYZ before they switched to an A330. Now it's a historic picture since the 767s are the past. That plane took me for my first time from Canada to Belgrade via MXP. I still remember those green jetways in Milan... Good times.

The Germans had tried for 2 times to develop an hub in Milan.
Before with a partnership with AirOne, after with Lufthansa Italia
This latter had to close down thanks to the our "good government" that didn't gave at LHI the rights to fly to destinations outside the eu, the delay of the certification of italian carrier and unfair competition from Linate airport

In fact, despite Linate open as mini-hub for European airlines, Malpensa is the main italian station of some extra-EU carriers such as: United, American, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad, Oman Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Air China and TAM and it is the biggest cargo hub in Italy.

If we closes Linate airport, there could be more intercontinental flights from Malpensa, but our politicians don't understand anything

I wonder what that old 736ER could be worth? It would be sweet if Jat airways snatched it lol. Some wishes on from my side... Yeah Linate and the airports such as Campiano just drag Italy to the mud..

I have no idea.... Certainly less than € 100.000.000

Be careful, Ciampino and Linate aren't equal
Linate and Ciampino in common have only that they are two city airports, for the rest are different.

While Ciampino is limited only to the Ryanair and a number of daily movements for law, Linate has become a kind of hoover of intercontinental passengers for European airlines

I haven't heard anything about it, actually, Alitalia on BEG has reduced its offer closing the MXP-BEG of AirOne

Meanwhile, some news:

1) last week, Adr (Aeroporti di Roma) has suspended to Alitalia for one day the Fast Track service on Milan-Rome route due to a non-payment of a debt contracted by Alitalia

2) On SSC Italia there are some data about the LF of some intercontinental flights operated by Alitalia

Asian destinations have got the worst performance (Bejing is the worst destination), the new entry AUH for now is not going well, destinations to South America have a good performance

3) The destination for Beijing is at risk of closure and flights to Newark will be moved to JFK from this Summer

4) 13 A320 will be grounded, as reported by some Alitalia pilots on the pprune forum

Alitalia hypothesis 49 percent of the shares in Etihad

The name of Etihad role once again in the whirl of speculation about the future of Alitalia.

The company of Abu Dhabi, reported today the edition of Mf, would now pointing to the maximum possible shares to an investor outside the EU, namely 49 per cent.

According to the business daily, the assumption would be met with the approval from the current members of Alitalia, which in this way could solve the hypothesis of the use of bridging loan and, in some cases, close the chapter of an investment no longer welcome .

In terms of company UAE, which has not yet commented on the rumors, there would be another hypothesis, related to the role of Malpensa airport. Etihad at home, in fact, explains Mf, you'd be studying the idea of turning the airport into a hub transcontinental.

ITA: Nessuna e la domanda più corretta sarebbe: Alitalia esisterà ancora la prossima estate?
Dubito...

ENG: No one and the right question would be: Alitalia will still exist next summer?
I doubt....

JNB was announced during a press conference but for now no one knows anything yet about possible timetables and frequencies for this route

On Tokyo AZ has 8xw for FCO and 4xw for MXP, but at MXP Alitalia for this summer has slot to operate a daily service for NRT and the A330 which operated FCO-PEK seems that will be based at MXP to operate MXP-MIA and new 3xw flights for AUH

The situation in Alitalia is become critical:
the losses of € 280 million have been confirmed (-69 mil. 2011) and Atlantia will not stay long in AZ
(they have the 8% of shares in AZ)

This is not all, there are some rumors that speak of a project that consist in:

repositioning of all intercontinental flights to MXP, at FCO would remain JFK, GRU and EZE
all flights would transferred from LIN to MXP and repositioning of most of feeder flights from FCO to MXP
phase-out of some B777 that would be replaced by other A330
phase-out of all A321
lay-offs, but not quantified yet

Thanks to the italian forumer 2fast4you for the rumors
