ROTTERDAM | Central District | 220m | 200m | 180m | App

Height: 220m | 200m | 180m
Completion: ?
Purpose: Mixed Use (mainly offices) 640.000 SQm to .......... Sqm

After a long period of protests from inhabitans of Rotterdam, thursday the 17th of march the citycouncil of Rotterdam finally gave approval for this project. Now it's time for the investors and companies to make this huge project work. It's located in the central district of Rotterdam, close to the central station. At the moment they're building a new station (Rotterdam Centraal) which should be finished in 2013. Also part of this huge project is FIRST Rotterdam. Construction of that 130m tall tower will start at the end of 2011. Rotterdam central district is going to connect the citycenter with the central station. It seems that Rotterdam is going to break the barrier of 200m after all!

No, the existing buildings will be demolished. Those buildings are only like 2/3 stories high. No big deal. They're not gonna tear down any of the existing skyscrapers.

The first render, that's just some kind of mass study, or is it a real design?

These are all visions. As far as I know, there are no designs yet.

The first image is not a design, but a dsigners statement for keeping the small scale existing buildings and the small scale existing company's and put the big scale on top of it. It has never been meant as a real design.

All the rest are serious mass studies. But final heights are not known yet since there are no architectural designs yet. And it can take 25 years to complete the wholl mass of buildings.

First tower will start construction next year, 120 meters tall:

Name is First, maybe the next one will be called second or next...
