Nope. There´s a 180m highrise in construction in Sao Paulo now and that´s the tallest we have in Brazil

There are height restrictions in Brazil, specially in Sao Paulo where there´s a lot of aircraft and helicopter traffic.

Heavy speculation is going on nationwide right now, provided by the garbage the press is creating everyday.
The key issue is whether the new stadium will be public or some sort of partnership with one of the other clubs based in the city.
Whatever is the outcome, you can be sure Sao Paulo will put on a great spectacle in 2014.

Ops! this is not likely to happen. Government officials are insisting in using the Morumbi stadium, since the only thing that motived it to be dropped was the political issues between the president of CBF and Sao Paulo FC (owner of Morumbi)

Technically, the older Morumbi project has all that´s necessary to stage World Cup games (maybe not an opening game or semifinal). SP Committee is not interested at all in hosting opening game or semifinal. Their commitment is in not using public money to build a new stadium in a city that already has five soccer stadiums......

There is, actually, a project for Pacaembu stadium, which is public, but they´re taking this as a last opition.

Then why Sao Paulo didn't plan for an airport that is very far away from the city limit? like building a Airport out at sea.

Sao Paulo already has an airport far from downtown: it´s the Cumbica airport at the municipality of Guarulhos, at the East Side of the Metropolitan Area.

But Cumbica alone can´t (yet) hold all the air traffic of the city. It serves big aircrafts - international flights and cargo. For smaller planes that serve domestic flights there´s the Congonhas Airport, this one inside the city. And there´s also a military airport at the north side of the city: the Campo de Marte airport, where helicopters and aerotaxis land. Sao Paulo has a fleet of about 1000 helicopters !!!

It´s not possible to move all that air traffic to a single spot in short therm, so for a while we´re having height restrictions.

There are other reasons as well, like fire security and mobility in the city.

Most city legislations in Brazil won't allow tall buildings. Thats a shame imo.

São Paulo is certainly one of the MOST AMAZING CITIES IN THE WORLD!

The projects here displayed are only a small reminder ot its grandeur, and I hope that as time passes it keeps on improving itself further and further, reaching for the "world metropolis" status it well deserves

My only objection is that it still hasn't come up with any projects with height above 200 meters, but I hope the new urban guidelines being developed by the city administration will correct this situation...
