And whats more..Infosys is investing $176M in this campus to make it the worlds largest training center.

Modern Mysore makes a mark

Mysore is fast heading for big growth with companies and firms finding the royal city an attractive destination.

An overall look at the changing market, industry and building sectors reveals a lot of activity both in new and upcoming projects.

The construction of new malls and marts, in modern glassed structures, displaying varied items, so far not seen in the Mysore retail market, is drawing the crowds.

Fab City, Fab Mall, Fab India, Food World and Westside are some of the organised retail outlets that have come up within the city and its extensions. On the anvil are Garuda Mall’s two outlets coming up near the Makkaji Chowk and the BM Hospital on Hunsur Road, by Bangalore-based Maverick Company, Forum in Jayalakshmipuram and Reliance.

Following the trend set by Infosys with its corporate training facility in the Hebbal Electronic City in Hootagalli, leading IT companies are setting up shop in the city. Some of them are TIS, Wipro, Velankani Software, Global Solutions, Nexshore and Sisa Software.

While the American TIS Company has finalised the deal in this regard last week, IT major Wipro has planned an expansion on about 300 acres in Belagola area. Companies like Velankani and Global Solutions are being located in the bordering Srirangapatna taluk.

Finding the tourist city and its surrounding areas, in particular the rural agricultural belts, an attractive market for insurance business, leading insurance players like Max New York, HSBC have already forayed into the Mysore market. Aviva, Kotak Mahindra and Tata AIG are expected to follow soon.

Finding the land prices much cheaper than in Bangalore, many builders have ventured into land development and housing projects. Apart from the local developers, a couple of major builders of Bangalore have ventured into construction in Mysore.

Prominent among them are Prestige, Brigade and Puravankara. Among the leading local players are Sankalp, Brigade, Enclaves, Premier, Mittal and Pathak who have completed a couple of commercial and residential projects and taken up new ones.

Adding to these, the emergence of kiosks like those of Coffee Day, ‘Cubs’ in Jayalakshmipuram, and ventures by locals as well are giving a new western world look to Mysore.

“A whole world of activity and leisure available in Mysore makes it a great destination business-wise,” agrees Pramod R, Affiliate manager of a new export-oriented IT company, Nexshore.

“We are optimistic on Mysore’s growth. The signs of the growth-wave are already there. Connectivity is improving. Airport is coming up. We can convince our clients that Mysore is of driving distance from Bangalore. Instead of making a pitch towards Hyderabad or Chennai, Mysore is a better destination.”

that mall at makkaji chowk is right in front of the palace. that is an attrocity.
and all the right thinking persons in mysore are raising a cry against that.
the project has backing from bangalore.
maverick is the worst business house that there is and our city govt is sold to it.

they should keep these type of developments out of 5km radius from the palace.
