I could see a duplex penthouse in this sucker going for Tour Odeon prices. This tower closely mimics 15CPW precisely because that building is such a smash success. It has almost singularly driven the mania surrounding developments in this neighborhood.

What a fantastic renders, this tower is so slim from the sides. It looks a bit oval shaped.

Fresh Permits Reveal Changes at 220 Central Park South

Fresh Permits Reveal Changes at 220 Central Park South

220 Central Park South -- rendering by Neoscape

A slew of permits were filed for Vornado’s 220 Central Park South earlier today, indicating some minor changes since the Robert Stern-designed tower’s height bump was officially reported.

The documents reveal that the skyscraper’s height has seen a slight increase; it was initially reported at 920 feet, but the latest figure is 950 feet, with 66 floors. 220 Central Park South will have 160 units in total, as well as a 461 square foot commercial component; the entirety of the project will be just over 410,000 square feet.

220 Central Park South, aerial of the site

Average units at 220 Central Park South will measure 2,500 square feet, which is enormous — especially for Columbus Circle/57th Street, which is currently the most expensive micro-neighborhood of Manhattan. No schedule A or B were filed with the documents, which leaves the size of the penthouse up for guessing, but it will undoubtedly be very large — and astronomically expensive.

YIMBY spoke with project insiders, who also indicated that the renderings leaked earlier this week (scooped by Curbed) may not be final, with minor design revisions possible; regardless, Stern’s plan for 220 Central Park South will be monumental, and yet another icon will soon rise on the skyline.

This one could very well end up being a supertall cause DOB does not include crowns, and looking at the pics, it looks really close to One57 in height.

Awesome! Agreed this can break supertall.

On One57 NB filing, the height is listed at 953 ft and ended up being 1,005ft, so it's not out of the question 220 CPS could end up around 1,000'

I speculate even before this news that Extell will ultimately raise the height of the Nordstrom, but now I firmly believe the Nordstrom will end up being 1,500' even as a result of this move by Vornado.

*Title fixed*

The renders had me thinking this sucker could go supertall too. Even a near-miss at 980 ft. seems very possible.

So is that filing based on the height of the highest occupied floor? (much like how the Nordstrom tower was filed at 472m for the highest floor)?

If so great news!
Cause after seeing funkyskuns render with this in, it looked a bit too short to how the renders depicted it, let's wait and see then

So that render wasn't that wrong after all. It has a change to be 984 feet to the top.

I think it will miss 300m, one57 has a way bigger crown.

I don't think it will be 1000 feet, but 984 feet aka supertall status is definatly possible

Unfortunately I think skyscraper nerds like us are the only people who care if a building is 298m or 302m. For the developer or residents it makes little difference.

I love the top.... lots of character and it's different. Just love that it's not another primarily glass tower the most, as well as its throwback feel.

What character does the crown have? It looks bland and bare. It has as much character as a parking lot. It looks lazy and simplistic. Look at any building from the 30s and you'll see how much detail and beauty is placed on the crown.

I agree the tower looks fantastic but they seemed to have given up on the crown. it looks like an eraser. l don't remember where but l heard someone say that this isn't the final design. Can anyone confirm this?
