I agree whatever the height it will be a beautiful masterpiece. Especially with it's juxtaposition with the glittering glass towers soaring up around it.

Approved: 220 Central Park South
http://newyorkyimby.com/2014/03/appr...ark-south.html

Quote:
New building permits for 220 Central Park South have been partially approved — with foundation permits fully approved — meaning the last obstacles to the tower’s rise are now out of the way.
Quote:
It appears that the simple form of 220 Central Park South will work to the development’s advantage, as even single-floor residences will qualify as sky-mansions. In addition to the residences, the ground level will have a 461 square foot commercial component. The project will have 160 units in total.
Quote:
the zoning diagram indicates it will become ‘open space,’ though that would be incredibly hard to imagine. It seems more likely that the current filings are for the near-supertall portion of the development, and that documents for the shorter component will be filed at a later date.

Quote:
Indeed, renderings confirm the two-towered nature of the project, as the shorter building is visible on the right-hand side of the above image.
Quote:
A formal completion date for the 950-foot structure has not been announced, but excavation is clearly beginning — and with permits approved, verticality is imminent.

If the DOB says 950 that might be to the top floor, it sure looks over 1000 in that rendering.

Or at least 990 ft. which would make this a supertall anyway.

They did. T(u)RD is a sh!t publication; they got the figures for the floor count & Nordstrom Tower's height wrong in their article too. They are beyond awful.

What is going on with financing with the Nordstrom? Gary better dump the Singaporeans for financing and talk to these guys! lol.

Also... Can the Bank of China get into the development game and help build/ fund the Spire??

I think the design as it is today is incredibly good and very well within NYC style. setbacks, stone sidings, proportions.

I love the design. It's very classy, perfect for New York. Better than a lot of the "glass box" skyscrapers that get put up nowadays.

It's nice enough but I'm not a fan of the very top as I don't like boxy crowns. Also, art-deco is a rather plain style and is being done to death. I think It's time for Stern to design a neo-gothic masterpiece for NYC. It is gotham after all
