It's still 950'. The DOB filing had an incorrect #, and 1,031' is indeed the elevation.

Thanks for getting it clarified. It did seem too coincidental.

This will still be an incredible building though.

I know I didn't say it so this is hindsight but still...they just happen to increase the height by the exact amount of elevation? Come on.

That design on the poster isn't the same as the render. Which is the right one?

I figured the 1031' was a mistake, so no disappointment for me. I'd actually prefer that the block right on Central Park (58th-59th) not have supertalls. The block spanning 57th-58th is close enough.

I'm starting to feel like those older towers will soon get ignored by this wave giant newcomers.
Those towers will always be special and we will probably see nothing like them ever again.

My heart aches every time I see a rendering of Waterview Tower. I immediately thought of that building after seeing the renders for this one. This building is just as stunning!

+1. I would have loved to see that tower being built here, but the current design is pretty good as well.

I think its Pomo, not Art Deco, and ny developers need to stop looking to the past because they build half-assed recreations of older styles. Do it right or build something more progressive that reflects our times.

15 CPW isnt ugly, but it's definitely overhyped. Bland crown, few details. The limestone's nice but everything else looks lazy. It has that dopey Art Deco look of the 1940s (think Miami) rather than the jaw dropping vertical castles of the 1920s and 30s. Those were the great Art Deco works. At least 30 Park Place looks imposing and graceful enough to make up for Stern's B-list structures.

15CPW's success speaks for itself regardless of any perceived shortcomings of Stern's design (he was channeling Candela and not the ' cathedrals of commerce' Downtown or in Midtown).
