The taxes on that 250 million dollar apartment should be at least 300 million dollars.

Yet ironically they will pay close to NONE at ALL! Why Billionaires Don't Pay Property Taxes in New York

Quote:
When a duplex condominium in New York's new One57 supertall tower sold for $100.5 million dollars in January, it shattered all records. While the owner paid nine figures for the penthouse, the city only taxed the unit for $17,000 in property taxes. That's an effective property tax rate of 0.017 percent—about one one-hundredth of the average national tax rate.

that would be stupid.

Said person would simply buy a 250 million dollar condo elsewhere. Send there millions to another development somewhere else.

The money in this case will go into the hands of the developer. I am sure the developer will make good money on this. Much of the money will go into future developments which will feed fees and other taxes back to the city and create more employment opportunity. The profit from these development is also taxed. The broker who sold it will pay taxes on his income.

I will stop there because I am about to get political and this is not the place for that.

One57 looks so huge in that picture. To think it is going to be dwarfed in a few years by several other towers is crazy.

Even with such a price, it still looks both cheesy and artificial in the same time.

No where near $2.2 billion. Probably half that, if even.

It definitely is an artificial structure...

Oh I thought it should have looked more organic even with the fact that it is an artificial structure. My bad. It still looks like it belongs more to Dubai rather than New York.

Didn't know they constructed limestone cladded buildings in Dubai.

Saying something like, "Why don't you check out this website? http://www.globalstoneportal.com/blo...i-stone-supply " is advice. "Educate yourself" is belittling and therefore insulting.

Anyway, I hope you're having a nice day.

I can't wait till this tower gets to full height and covers up the ugly dark blue cladding on top of One57.
