Lübeck, The Queen of the Hanse

I made a little trip to Lübeck, Germany in February 2011. Hope you enjoy!

Beautiful pics, but I think some of the destroyed houses around the townhall should be reconstructed in the future !
That area looks so ugly compared to pre-war pictures.

Yes...you're right! I was thinking exactly the same when I was there!
The new built Peek & Cloppenburg is really...well it's not a bad building but it doesn't fit in the old town!

Great photos, Dr. Seltsam! Lübeck looks like a lovely city. I love all of the steeply-gabled buildings; it looks quite Scandinavian.

I took that picture on the top of the church "St. Petri".
Lübeck has many beautiful brick stone churches. Most famous are the "St. Mary's Church" and the "Lübeck Cathedral".

Wonderful pictures. I'm curious as to the percentage of buildings in the historic center that were completely destroyed in WW2, the % partially destroyed, and the % left relatively untouched. Does anyone know?
