I agree. I've also heard that while Halladay was here, Romero took in everything he said and did like a sponge. I think it's safe to say, if Romero took a quarter of the time and effort that Halladay did, Romero will be an ace that strikes fear into other teams.

I remember an interview with a former Jay (can't remember who though). He said that Halladay was the ultimate team player and just one of the guys in the club house.

On his day to pitch though, he showed up around 12 or 1 for a night game and had his iPod on the whole time. Team mates couldn't even speak to Roy on a day of his start. Not because he was an ass, be he took his start so seriously and got himself into a zone, almost trans-like. The guy said even if he didn't have his headphones on and you said hi to him, he wouldn't answer you, he was that into his zone.

I wonder if Romero went out and bought an iPod.

Dustin McGowan making progress on his road to recovery, pitching to live hitters. There's no exact date for a rehab assignment yet, but I wish him the best. It's been years since he was relevant, but hopefully he can regain his form as a decent pitcher in the near future.

Brett Cecil, brutal in his first AAA start since demotion. Allowed 10 earned runs on 13 hits in 4 1/3 innings. Hopefully bounces back, and regains his confidence and form.

Reyes is a bum. I cringe when he takes the mound.

Jo Jo Reyes actually looked impressive in yesterday's game. He was in line for the win, if it wasn't for Rauch blowing the save. I haven't given up hope on him yet. We've lost too many close, low scoring games though. Yesteday's outcome may have been different if we had Bautista in the line-up.

Yeah, I had high hopes for Reyes when he showed up here, but got pretty critical of him early on. But that's the point, it's still early.

I'm not sure about Rauch either. How can a guy who's 6'11", not get his fastball up over 93ish? I pitched competitively until I was around 24, usually the tall guys have the huge fastball. I'm 6'2" and I could get it in the low 90's on a good day, but guys taller than me usually threw impressive heat. I'm thinking Randy Johnson and the new kid in Washington........unless they have longer arms. Maybe that's it, arm length not totally a height thing.

He's a big improvement from Gregg though. The first time I saw Gregg pitch here I knew he'd get lit up. His delivery is horrible. He's all arm which means opposing batter's know exactly what's coming. His only hope would be to blow the fastball by everybody. The googles and chaw in his mouth just annoyed the hell out of me.

I'm also cautiously optimistic about a Dustin McGowan return. He's been away from big league hitting a long time. He looked absolutely awesome when he was here as a rookie. He had great composure for a young pitcher too.

Adam Lind on fire last night.
Morrow on fire last night.

The Jays are very frustrating to watch. They're not going to get anywhere in their division unless they can get a 4-5 game win streak going.

I was at Montana's when Upton got that bottom of the 9th homerun. Everyone in the restraunt looked at me when I yelled "OH NO!".

I take it, you were the only one watching the game?

I totally forgot until I saw the "Sparky" patch on the sleeve of the Tigers uniforms, that Uncle Sparky passed away last fall.

Man, first Bob Feller, then Sparky Anderson.....

I found this today on Ted Williams for all of us baseball fans.

Yikes, great game by Verlander. But as much of a Jays fan that I am, that walk to Arencibia was close. The close calls are always tough in a perfect game/no hitter.
I don't think I would have been upset if the ump called it a strike.

Good grief! Firs it was Weaver's 15 strike outs and now Verlander's no-hitter. The Jays are doing a good job of making our opponents look good. MLB hardly ever talks about the Jays unless it's our opponents making us look like fools.

The Jays have gotten really good at winning the first game of a series and shitting the bed for the rest of it. This team is tough to watch. Injuries aren't helping though.

I noticed why Corey Patterson hasn't established himself as an everyday MLBer. His routes to the ball in the outfield are absolutely dreadful. He's fast, and he can handle a bat, but his defence is beyond suspect. In other news, Jose Bautista is truly a god.

While it's only 2 games, it still a series sweep!

Bautista a god, I have a friend who was considering naming his new pup Bautista.

Interleague play starts early this month, well, one series against Houston. I notice that Philly is in town again this year. (Supposed to be last year if it wasn't for the G-8). Maybe a chance to see Halladay, Lee, Hamels, Osawalt...................never mind.

Woooooo! Take that Redsuxs!

Twins up next. They playing terrible this season. Hopefully Jays can sweep them and get back to .500 before we go up aginst Detroit and Tampba Bay again.

God! I hope we get no more injuries.

Jays won't sweep. I wish they did, but they won't. Let's hope Lind gets back soon and we actually have a full lineup for once.

Romero, Pavano tonight in Minnesota should be a good one. I'm betting Ricky will bounce back from his last game and be on fire. Let's hope the bats show up.

For those of us who get TBS from Atlanta, Roy Halladay is pitching tonight in against the Braves and TBS shows all the Braves games.

Tampa Bay Rays are now leading our division, and their payroll is not even a quarter of the Yankee payroll this season.

I guess the bankees are going to need to spend more than $200 million if they want to win a World Series this year.

Yep good call, Romero seems to be back on track. Very winnable series against the Twins. Hopefully with good support, Reyes can get his first win of the season today.
