Rzepczynski gives up the game tying 2 run HR in the 8th inning with 0 outs........ he should not be in the major leagues.

Baseball was my second chronological favourite sport in life, first was basketball because of my father. Then high school kicked in and I started following hockey more. I'm also quite interested in speed skating. The current sport I follow most would be soccer (especially the German Bundesliga). The only sport I never quite developed an thorough interest for is (american) football. Last edited by Travis007; June 15th, 2011 at 06:07 AM. |

I'm taking a stab in the dark here that we're all pretty disgruntled with the team so we're staying quiet.
![]() I keep hearing whispers in my ears, rebuilding......rebuilding............rebuilding........or they're voices in my head, I'm not sure. |

John Farrell is a bad manager. Took out Villeneuva to bring in Perez with 2 out in the 7th. Perez sucks - he's from AAA and as a releiver, he's not ready to be just put into a game without warmup. It takes time for inexperienced relievers to find the strike zone. Sure enough he comes in and gives up a 2 run HR in the 7th. Farrell should have kept Villenueva in the game...... he would have been 6-1.

It's his first season as a big league manager, these things are going to happen.

Thames seems to be a great addition to the team, but his defense in the outfield is suspect.
When you play outfield at Fenway Park you have to be prepared for the balls to ricochet off the green monster and back towards you, but they're running right up to the wall and the balls is ricocheting away from them. They have to stand back and let it bounce back to them. Good to see Snider back and with a much improved swing. More compact and tighter. Letting his arms and not his body do all the work. |

This just in.......Corey Patterson is the worst base-runner in the history of the game.

Attempting to steal a base when your team has 2 outs. What was Patterson thinking?
BS call at the end of the game there. Straight up "Ump ball"! EE was safe! |

Signing "has been" relievers is not going to cut it. We would be contenders NOW if we had a real closer.

Jays gotta go on a big spending spree this off-season if they want to take advantage of Bautista being in his peak. We need bonafide number 2 and number 3 starters, an established closer, a setup man, a power hitting outfielder and possibly a 2nd baseman depending on what happens with Hill.

^ That list of things to do would generally translate to automatic success for most clubs in the league. But not when you're in the same division as the Yankees and Red Sox, as well as currently strong/decent Rays teams with prospects and money to improve. It's difficult picturing the Jays as more than mediocre and hovering around the .500 mark.
But in terms of future; Eric Thames looks like he's got potential to be a solid player for us in the outfield. It's rough seeing how quickly injuries have caused Aaron Hill to declined so badly. Hopefully he finds his way...maybe next season. If Hill doesn't rebound, then Brett Lawrie should be the Jays 2nd baseman for the future, and could also play 3rd. Lawrie has put up some pretty beast stats so far in AAA (15 HR, 49 RBI, .354 BA in 54 games), and is also ranked 10th in Baseball America's Top 50 Prospects List. Other jays prospects to have made the list are; Travis D'Arnuad (Catcher) and Anthony Gose (CF). |

Also good to see Brett Cecil regain his form and confidence in his recent couple of starts. We could always use some reliable starting pitching. After a rough start in his AAA stint, Drabek looks to be regaining his form too lately. And Congrats to Romero for making the All-Star game.

UUUUUUUUUUggggh! Bautista choked in the HR Derby. He was probably nervous and his pitcher didn't seem all that great.

Epic offensive performance by the Jays!! Always great watching the Jays own the Yankees any day. Snider has been on fire ever since getting re-called, hopefully he has an impressive final half of the season. Bautista's ankle injury is concerning though, hopefully it's not serious and he can return soon.
