Mr.Hanoi, be sure u read the rules about posting photos in Cambodian threads: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1354237

Plz respect local rules and try not to be too show-off, it may give people bad images of Vietnamese.

Calm down! Since most of people here are not familar with our cities, you must provide descriptions with your photos, otherwise they won't be able to understand. That's not courteous!

it is better to post news instead of posting picture. just look at "Our neighbor: Vietnam" thread in Thai forum.......just only news, and news! Picture has less thing to discuss, but news has much more than.

Moves to detect and prosecute corruption cases to get priority
Updated April, 07 2011 09:25:12 Email Print
HA NOI — Agencies needed to speed up the legal procedure for handling corruption cases, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung urged in the Central Steering Committee for Anti-corruption meeting yesterday.

Speaking to review the Committee's operations in the first quarter and build plans for the second quarter, Dung appreciated the achievements in fighting corruption, which helped consolidate people's confidence in the Party and State's policies.

However, Dung, who is also the Committee's head, pointed out shortcomings, such as delayed detection and handling of corruption cases.

He asked committee members, judicial authorities, and supervisors at all levels to strengthen their co-ordination and figure out how to overcome the committee's deficiencies.

Ministries, central agencies and localities must continue implementing anti-corruption measures drastically and effectively. They should focus on more efficient information dissemination and preventing corruption in land use and management, investment and construction projects, State asset management, and State budget use.

Committee members agreed that investigations in key cases were often too slow. Some cases even dragged on for three or four years.

Vu Tien Chien, office chief of the committee said there were 28 corruption cases total, with 55 defendants prosecuted and 18 cases that went to a first trial in January and February alone.

Five serious and complicated cases were still under investigation. The courts are now handling 11 cases, including those related to misuse of power, property appropriation, and bribing at Viet Nam Air Petrol Co Ltd, the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam, the Bank for Investment of Development of Viet Nam, Viet Nam Forest Corporation and the Viet Nam National Sericulture Corporation.

The Ministry of Public Security is completing draft regulations to protect denunciators in corruption cases, Chien said.

For second quarter, the committee planned to complete legal procedures to be taken against individuals of four serious cases involving Song Hau farm, Da Nang-based Vinaconex 10 Company, the Viet Nam Air Petrol Co Ltd and the Corporation of Agricuture Materials.

Minister of Public Security Le Hong Anh suggested that there should be clearly defined responsibilities for agency heads, local authorities and companies in which corruption cases have occurred.

Prime Minister Dung highlighted the need to strengthen anti-corruption activities through administrative procedure reform.

Also in the meeting, deputy head of the committee Truong Vinh Trong announced the Prime Minister's decision to appoint Nguyen Dinh Phach, deputy chairman of the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission, to commitee office chief, replacing Vu Tien Chien who will retire on May 1. — VNS

Ministry, EVN jointly train nuclear power workforce
06/04/2011 | 20:47:43

The Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) and the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) signed a cooperation agreement on the training of nuclear power workforce in Hanoi on April 6.

Under the agreement, about 30 students and officials will be sent to the Moscow Engineering and Physics Institute (MEPHI) annually to study nuclear power, with the training cost covered in half by Russia’s Rosatom State Energy Corporation and the remaining half by the MoET.

At the signing ceremony, MoET Deputy Minister Bui Van Ga affirmed that the MoET will work responsibly with EVN in training high-quality workforce to serve the country’s future nuclear power plants.

EVN Deputy General Director Dinh Quang Tri said that since 2004, EVN had sent 172 officials to take short-term courses in nuclear power plants in Japan, the Republic of Korea and France. Last year, the group also sent officials to Russia and Sweden to pursue doctorate degrees in the field.

Vietnam plans to kick off construction on the Ninh Thuan No.1 nuclear power plant in December, 2014, with its reactors going into operation in 2020 and 2021.

Construction of the country’s Ninh Thuan No. 2 nuclear power plant will begin in May, 2015 with its reactors going into commission in 2021 and 2022./.

Nuclear is really the only solutions to solve our hunger for power, but is also very dangerous should disaster strike, Cambodia may need to look into it as well, as it is very much blessed with no earthquake.

No choice.....! hydropower is good but the dam can only work at full ability when the river full filled with water......hydropower is clean but the dam will cause flooding in the area it located in!
only nuclear power can save indochina from hunger of electricity!

thats right, dam flood upstream and restrict water flow downstream, basically destroy the farmland both up and downstream. it can supplement cambodia power need, but will never be enough.
