Doreset England

Had a lovely trip to Dorset, visited a few great places Winchester the ancient capital of England, Bournmouth the only real beach on the southern coast, Poole the uber rich home of Sandbanks and Weymouth a lovely historic seaside resort.

To start heres Winchester, a really beautiful cathedral city

is that the Winchester Cathedral?
what an impressive gothic.
I associate this with that song "Winchester Cathedral" which was released in late 1966
and it was covered by some popular singers during that time.
not sure though if the composer wrote this song with that cathedral in mind.
comments from anyone?

Thanks for the comments, not sure ive heared the song capricorn2000, i was very impressed with the cathedral, was not expecting such a great amount of carved details.

Leaving the cathedral into the more tranquil area of town

@Cardiff - Winchester is not dorset. And There are other True proper beaches in dorset, such as West bay, and the beach at durdle door. Besides, a shingle beach is still a beach.

???rachard???

N17, of course Winchester isnt in Dorset, but the other titile for this thread was 'Central sourthern England', a tad confusing Bournmouth is by far the best known and most popular sandy beach on the south coast, but of course not the only single one (but for those not in the know does it matter), and yes i apreciate a shingle beach as well.

Fabulous pics from the coast, that museum seems interesting. Looks like a Summer house from the turn of the century.

Thakns for the comments, yes it hink it was their summer house but later on became their main house. Was really beautifully decorated inside in a typical eclectic victorian fashion!

Poole

The old town hall, interesting design you dont often see in the UK (most having been demolished i suppose for bigger ones)
