I would go for a rotating tower or rotating deck on a tower to...
A weel is nice, but has lots of difficulties + there can only be one city famous for it's weel (London) Other cities that build weels bigger than London (like Singapore) Are not famous for it...

An ordinary tower seems easier to build and maintain, because it could be as simple as a vertical concrete tube with something else on top, so it must be cheaper, but it's only a guess.

Tower. Wheels are kitschy and remind one of Ferris Wheels at amusement parks.

I was just thinking of a solution here because Taller, Better said something about pretparks.

Wouldn't it be nice to build an observation tower but with the glass cocoons like the London eye.

So the tower will be a kind gherkin with a very rounded top and the glass cocoons ride on rails on the outside. They spirel upwards to the top, go over it and decent on the other side...

Maybe I'll make a drawing soon of what I have in mind, because I don't feel words can say that much about a design.

IMO a tower observatory better. Maintenance cost wise. I think it ca be built with minimal space (land area) compared to Observatory wheel.

thanks for all the replies, really appreciated it! ) i'm now starting to think deeper. hehe.

what if, a wheel tower with a deck on top? a deck like in marina bay sands park. the wheel's capsules will be the alternative elevator to deliver you to the deck.

or an observatory tower which uses a capsule (like singapore flyer capsule) as the alternative elevator to go up and down the tower?

@josham, i think i visualize what you said in the tower with glass cocoons. but a sketch would be much better. if you have the time, please post it thanks!
