Very impressive indeed.

Not only because it is fantastic architecture, but also because of its sheer size. Just looked in google earth for it. That thing is really big

yep, the British Museum's dome is actually a bigger diameter than St Peter's, but can't be considered the worlds largest as its not free-standing.

The museum is also the largest antiquities museum, with 7 million exhibits, most of course in storage there (by comparison Met has 2 million, Hermitage 2.7 million pieces). Its pretty much the biggest pile of stolen booty in the world.

I found St Peters a bit of an anticlimax tbh. The massing's cmbersome, the decor predictable... the thing that saved it was the walk up to the top, past the spot of Escher's famous drawing: http://templars.files.wordpress.com/...-petertemp.jpg

When I visited a Sweden during this summer, I saw a very interesting style of architecture which was presented by Turning Torso. I like it!

The John Soane Museum. Erotic architecture par excellence...

love the convention centre in S. Korea, almost looks like a modern attempt at the Sydney Opera House. Very nice.

I watched a documentary on New Songdo. They blatantly ripped off all the world's icons. They explained that the designers wanted the best that each city has to offer. So they took the Canals of Venice, The Petronas Twin Towers the Opera House of Sydney. The problem is that the Convention centre has nothing on the Opera House, because it's smack bang in the centre of the city, not on the waterfront like the Opera House.

Agreed

Funny to mention, its architect - Renzo Piano - is also the architect behind another amazing buiding (though beautiful might not be the word): Centre Pompidou, together with Richard Rogers
