Look around you, there isn't alot of 'spectacle' architecture about. It may look like it from this thread but the vast majority of what's being built now is either glass box or pomo pastiche.

Although this may be a tad bland compared to the buildings above, I find this building facinating. It is a ventillation tower in birkenhead UK and stands on the edge of the mersey. Built in between 1925-34, the main tower is 210 feet high. You just dont find many of these types of building and they are extremely beautiful:

Villa Empain - Brussels, Belgium
The, just renovated, Villa Empain is certainly one of the most beautiful architectural masterpieces of Art Deco in Brussels. In 1930, at the age of 21, Baron Louis Empain had this private mansion of 2500 square meters built, on the prestigious Franklin Roosevelt Avenue. I like the layering of roofs and the disalignment of the central tower. But I'm not too sure about this piano pad like cladding. Some could love that I guess. However, some details at the top seem definately unsightly and useless to me.
