This one is very interesting: a tower (actually a water tank) with a medieval-sort-of architecture, built a century ago in the city of Mar del Plata (Argentina)

Boston City Hall // Kallmann McKinnell & Knowles // 1968 // Boston, Massachusetts, USA

This building is very polarizing. And by that I mean 99% of people passionately hate it. But aesthetics aside, it's one of the most powerful buildings I've ever seen in person.

I actually kind of like it.
I'm not sure about its plaza however.

It's kind of endearing, like an ugly duckling.

The issue with Boston City Hall is, I think, more to do with its context than the building itself. Both in terms of its immediate surroundings - namely City Hall Plaza and vast expanses of brick trying to be modern, as well as its place in a very historic location. This is one case where I think the wrong thing was done building this in Scollay Square.

There was too much attempt made to try and tie in the surrounding traditional buildings, which in turn turned modern to try and tie in with City Hall. I have always felt that redesigning City Hall Plaza, which I understand will never happen, as well as addressing that brick monstrosity on Congress St. would complete change the character of the building.

This is the perfect example of Brutalism being so heavily dependent upon its location and context. Put this building, minus the brick, in a nice manicured expanse of lawn surrounded by woods, and it would be a thing of beauty.

I don't usually like that kind of brutalist buildings, but this really got me when i first saw it. It's a very strong building. Looks great to me. And I'll have to agree with MrVillageIdiot, the plaza is not nice.

I've never quite been a fan of his work but the one you posted is probably one of his greatest.
