Ah, I see. He only approves of "selected" festivals. Does this mean our mayor selects only what parts of the population he wants to support and represent? Rather obviously, yes.

He's stated in the past that the city should not fund 'festivals' as they should be funded by the financial community and other private sources. He's also stated his discomfort with homosexuals in the past - but a mayor should be expected to put his personal feelings aside and represent all of the people of Toronto. Now, that said - Id definitely like to attend the J50 party. Cheers, m

You have to pay money to make money. You have to invest in festivals to get a massive return from tourist dollars. Punishing successful world famous festivals that are completely volunteer based is just plain churlish and incredibly short sighted. IT COSTS MONEY to throw one of the biggest pride festivals in the world and keep it all free for viewers. I hope to god they don't have to start selling tickets for it like they always did in London. That is the kiss of death for a festival.

Oh, I miss lots of good stuff, my friends tell me about but I do my best. I get lots of people telling me "You can't film in here'. lol (Like at the Downsview Merchant's Market. Yeah, what is that, a secret military zone?) They asked me to delete my footage and I said, screw you but in more diplomatic terms. lol I was taken to management and told to not film. I said OK but I will not delete what I filmed. They let me go with a warning. Christ, it was just a crummy flea market. lol
The Charlie Sheen event, I just caught by accident. I was actually headed to buy some stuff in Chinatown and had no idea what was going on. I saw a crowd in front of the Ritz, so I checked it out. Once I heard Charlie Sheen was coming out, I quickly forgot about Chinatown and followed Charlie on his walk. It was crazy! I frequently bring my little camera with me even when I just go for a walk or shopping, because in this city, you never know what's gonna happen. I see all kinds of cool things just by accident, so I try keep my little, Sony Cyber Shot, close at hand. The video quality is not great but it's acceptable. It's amazing how many events and strange happenings go on in this city. I only see a fraction of it. Lots of stuff goes on, without the public even knowing. (including underground stuff) Lots of events can not be posted on Youtube but it's still interesting to check it all out. Last edited by Mollywood; April 18th, 2011 at 07:38 PM. |

I don't know, what the hell is that thing? I thought it was a tablet for filming but it does look like a picture frame.

I was at Caribana yesterday and I was standing right where the murder happened. Fortunately, I left at 6pm and the shooting happened at 7pm. It happened right between Ontario Place and the CNE.
I like Caribana but it is one badly organized parade. The parade has no continuity. It stops and starts, with 30 to 60 minute gaps, which can be quite frustrating. Too many ordinary people jump the fence and walk in both directions, during the parade. It's just mass confusion of people walking everywhere and it blocks the parade floats. It slows the whole thing down. There were many times I thought the parade was over but then I realized a float was coming, in the distance. Although this parade could use lots of improvement, I still enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed it more if it was cooler and less crowded but it is, what it is. I didn't get much good video footage of the parade but I will still make a few videos out of it. 1 - General Caribana video 2 - The girls of Caribana 3 - The boys of Caribana That's right, you can't leave the Caribana boys out. (and there were some buff boys out yesterday. No wonder I was so hot!)

Apparently there were phalanxes of police patrolling the Entertainment District, that looked like G20 all over again.
