I'm ashamed to be missing Nuit Blanche tonight, but after working like a dog all day I had no energy for it.

Nuit Blanche was pretty good, there were very cool art works here and there.
But in the next morning, there is the Marathon... which woke me up. What is wrong with city event organizers... a morning loud event right after the grand night festival... It's good but give us some break... |

I missed it too: had football playoffs that night. We won so had another game 10 am Sunday morning. Hopefully someone took some snaps.

Did anyone here go to Nuit Blanche and take some photos? I'm really regretting not making the effort now.

Looks like we're out of luck. There aren't any on that 'other' site either.

Cask Days 2012 is coming up on October 27th-28th. Features 70+ breweries from coast to coast presenting over 100 cask conditioned beers.
This will be the 8th year of the festival that started as a one day event at Bar Volo, grew to a multi-day event that was held at Hart House last year and this year will be held at Evergreen Brickworks. Thanks for posting the Nuit Blanche pics! I have been working incredibly long hours the past week and just have not had a chance to do anything at all so I do regret not making the effort to at least take in one event.

I went to the Zombie Walk yesterday and quite enjoyed it. The costumes and makeup get better every year. People seem to really be getting more theatrical and creative. And of course, I filmed it.

It's Grey Cup weekend in Toronto and I heard on the news yesterday, a Calgary fan saying why Calgary is better than Toronto. One of his reasons was "Toronto doesn't know how to party". Calgary has a better party scene than Toronto? Oh, really? Funny, when I was in downtown Calgary, a few years ago, everything was closed down at 6pm. I didn't see any hot bar areas or great nightlife districts. So Calgary, where the hell is this so called "Calgary Party" because I didn't see hide nor hair of it, in Calgary.

Its a Canadianism. It originates in early-20th century Montreal (not without good reason), though it has since been appropriated by other urban Canadians, at which point it becomes laughable. |

Btw, can anyone explain, what the heck is a "Grey Cup" anyways?
We're literally being bombarded with news about this, yet I somehow doubt more than 2-3% (probably an overestimate) of Torontonians really care about this. |

Here is a history of the Grey Cup - Toronto Star article:
Grey Cup: Sixth Earl Grey Shares His Memories of the Big Game From Britain D’Arcy Doran Special to the Star November 24 2012 Published 1 hours, 11 minutes ago LONDON—There’s no need to ask what tea he drinks. But the sixth Earl Grey’s favourite sport would surprise many of his countrymen. He doesn’t care about cricket or English Premier League soccer — Canadian football is his sport of choice. This fondness for the CFL perplexes even his grandchildren. The Earl Grey first met the championship cup that bears his name on a freezing Sunday 40 years ago at Hamilton’sIvor Wynne Stadium. Hamilton beat Saskatchewan 13-10 in the last Grey Cup game played in December... ...The cup was born in 1909 when the fourth Earl Grey, Albert Grey, Canada’s governor general from 1904 to 1911, offered to donate it as a sportsmen’s challenge cup. Initially he’d wanted to make it a trophy for the amateur hockey championship, but he was beaten to it by Sir H. Montagu Allen, a Montreal banker and ship owner. So Grey offered to donate a cup for the amateur rugby football champions instead. But the governor general soon forgot about his promise. There was no trophy to present when the University of Toronto won the first Grey Cup in December 1909. Weeks before the game, organizers sent a letter to the governor general reminding him of his promise, according to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame and Museum. A hurried order was sent to silversmiths to create the sterling silver cup with a wooden base. The total bill: $48. “It was quite cheap,” Earl Grey says. “I think it was a practice for the governor general of the day to donate a cup. The Stanley Cup was also named after a British governor general.”... Read more: http://www.thestar.com/sports/articl...e-from-britain |
