Will be good when they get the signalling problems sorted on the Lidingöbanan. We've been waiting for a while for it to open! It was meant to open this year, but thanks to the problems we've not been able to go on it yet.

Looking forward to it. The vehicles look nice.

It seems, the previously presented design of the new Bombardier Movia C30 rolling stock for tunnelbana (subway) was updated:

One thing that happened recently in Stockholm was a redesign in the entire city centre bus network. Though there are a few things I didn't like about the redesign as it appeared to suit the bus company more than passengers, there are also big service improvements and reliability improvements on the cards for the future.

As part of this, I went and filmed the bus route 50 from start to finish. Bus route 50 runs from Stora Lappkärrsberget to Hornsberg in Västra Kungsholmen. It replaced bus 40, which used to run from Stora Lappkärrsberget to Reimersholme.

One thing that did happen during this changeover is that the little suburb of Ekhagen lost its bus service. Here are two videos I recorded in the past of route 40. You can see how the first half of the route has changed with the introduction of this new route - most importantly how tricky the roads around Ekhagen are (in the first video).

Good news that Stora Lappkärrsberget got a new bus route served by the articulated buses. Thank you very much for your effort, Svartmetall.

Interesting, that's not a company I know very well at all. Hopefully they'll do a good job!

Some more video tours of Stockholm public transport.

Firstly, a tour of the green line (Hagsätra branch). This video is a journey from Enskede Gård to Hagsätra.

Next up, a tour of Hagsätra station.

A station tour at Högdalen station. This also features a little ride on one of the unique points about elevators on the Stockholm metro system - most of them are inclined elevators. This was one that didn't smell horribly of urine, so we took it to show what they are like.

A tour of Hallunda metro station. This station is located right near the end of the Norsborg branch (one station before the end). I lived here for 14 months.

Fruängen station tour. This station is located on the red line at the end of the Fruängen branch.

A journey on the Norsborg branch between Fittja station and Masmo station. This is a nice stretch as it goes over a really nice lake.

Final video - a ride on the Fruängen branch from Fruängen to Telefonplan.

It's getting a bit dull architecture-wise, people are constantly copying architecture from other "hip" & "big" projects..

I'd rather see a bit less copycat behaviour amongst cityplanners/architects..

That must have been taken a little while before. They closed off the escalators again for some reason (but they keep them running). Anyone have any idea what on earth they're doing there?

A few more station tours since there isn't much news out recently.

First up, a unique look at some buses in Stockholm. First off, bus 312 - Brommaplan --> Adelsö island. This route is unique as it has a ferry portion to it. The bus actually gets onto the ferry and crosses to Adelsö, an island with only 750 inhabitants. The bus runs every two hours.

In this first video, if you want to skip to the ferry portion, it starts at 6:50.

In this second video, the ferry portion is at 4:00.

The next bus journey is on bus 176 from Ekerö Centrum to Solna Centrum, which is part of the route.

Now some more station tours on the tunnelbana network.

First is Brommaplan, a station on the green line heading out west.

Solna Centrum station is one of the "rockcrete" stations that has a lot of really cool artwork. It is also an incredibly deep station.

Västra Skogen is a quite unique station. It is incredibly deep at 33-40m deep. It also features one of the longest escalators in Europe at 66m long and 33m high.

Hope you enjoy.

It is now possible to charge mobile devices in some of the SL buses that run on the lines to Haninge, Tyresö and Nynäshamn. While this is not a standard yet, SL may equip all the bus fleet with USB charging devices in the future.

Some illustrations of tvärbanan extension from Sickla udde to Sickla station:

The position of light-rail tracks will be parellell to Värmdövägen and the new stop will be located right after Quality Hotel Nacka:

A joint light-rail (Tvärbanan), suburban railway (Saltsjöbanan) and subway (Tunnelbana) station will be located near the existing Sickla station. The new metro station will be located in a new Centrumbyggnad designed by Atrium Ljungberg:

More information: http://www.sll.se/tvarbanan-sickla, http://www.sll.se/verksamhet/kollekt...get-i-fullgang.

I live next door to this development and can confirm that the construction is in full swing nowadays. Some construction work is ongoing on weekends as well.

Thanks for the comprehensive information. Looks like a very worthwhile extension given Nacka needs dedicated transport hubs like that.

Damn..
I lived in Stockholm for a year studying masters in transportation at KTH and I miss a lot the city and all this "mood" of new constructions going and the superb transportation it has.

Now back in Brazil I feel kinda bad seeing our state of things with public transportation.

Thanks for the photos and videos.
