This theme and the title is my responsability,,,

Just i can say ... not is really important the phrase how we can recognize our countries... Mexico, United States or Canada.

Most important is our identity:

United States is a great country with important contributions for the modern politic system... it was the first country in the world in use an civilized politic... Thanks to this great contribution... today... we can talk about of liberties in the people, in the society ... no more despotic kings and absolutist emperors or religius ideas.

just i talk about politic liberties... i don´t talk about economy or international politic!

However i love mexican identity!!!!!!!!!! and i never change this identity and our national history!

Mexico is a country, United States is an other country... very differents in all aspects!

True! Mexico city can be really heavy by these things, i agree... if you walk by example in Paseo de la Reforma Avenue you can go to near avenues and find ugly and dirty zones.

In Santa Fé district you can watch beatiful buildings ... but street level in this zone is really ugly... in old town are some dirty streets... really very dirty streets... True!

True!!! But... for me and for many people in the world don´t means anything.... because this city is one of the most turistic city in latin america... maybe the most turistic capital!

Perhaps what the title refers to when it says "first" is that it is the oldest capital in the Americas. And then you have the all-the-time boring comparisons... to the others South American cities....who cares anyways. If you think there are many Alpha cities in the world (like Mexico City is) then start a thread about it. Whether you think is great or not, it is the most visited capital south of the US-Mx border, and that's a fact. Take that haters. Amen.

Great, thanks! And I will add, I have no problem with the title. There may be some others in South America, but off the top of my head I would have to agree that Mexico City is the first great city in the Americas.

I flew down to Mexico City with a friend back in 2006. We found a cheap flight from Denver. Fascinating city, we had a ton of fun. We wandered everywhere, places we were comfortable, places we weren't. My favorite experience was when we stumbled into a pulqueria. A lot of strange looks (and my Spanish is almost non-existent), but everyone was friendly.

I never did a thread of my photos. Maybe I should...

I live in Miami, so trust me, you are 100% correct. Parts of Miami are among the most dangerous in the United States. The rate of traffic fatalities here is literally insane for a city in a developed country. Miami could only wish to even hold a candle to a beautiful, diverse, cosmopolitan city like Mexico City, IMO.

You said it right. Likewise here in LA. I love you smart open-minded comment.
