Yes, this is very exciting. With the Park Theatre about to open opposite, and rumours of other redevelopments close by, this area will change rapidly in the next few years.

Rumours!? I like rumours.... Please tell me something is happening on the block between the bus station and John Jones.

Heh, OK. As it happens, Mr Flare, I can do just that.
First, there's this temporary improvement to the block which I understand is now approved after a long impasse. It has planning permission for two years, after which... Well, the block is owned by City North who are also developing the towers on their larger property above the station. You may be aware that they recently appointed a contractor for the towers and work is due to start early next year. There are even rumours that it will start this autumn. Anyway, I hear from a business owner who has a lease in the smaller block that you mention that City North intend to apply for something high-rise there too once work begins on the towers. His business has been told not to expect to have a long-term future in the current buildings. Throw in the Park Theatre and various nearby cosmetic improvments... Together, these developments represent a crucial piece of urban regeneration on old railway lands, like King's Cross in minature. I can't wait. Work finally began this week, with demolition commencing and a temporary vehicle entrance being added on Clifton Terrace.
The development has a Twitter account - @JJArtsBuilding |

The temporary vehicle extension has been there longer than a week. Good to see it moving along. The Theatre is looking good too.

And with City North commencing in April, Finsbury Park is going to be a building site for the next few years.

The new building there has been complete for a year and is pretty mediocre, but is separate from the JJ development. That said I think it will look better when the rest of the block is completed around it.

Anything is better than the crappy 80's low rise that was there before.

This is now simultaniously being demolished and under construction. Perhaps the mods can make a title change.
