I also remember about the landing in DGT last year. I was also shocked about the "bammm" sound.

Think about it this way; the hard contact is your perfect landing!, whereas the long flareout( when the plane noses up before touchdown) means caution, the highway is just ahead, expect hard braking!

The sunset limitations was just a phrase they use after the fact. It is the airway congestion that delayed planes on the ground causing the flight to be put off as sunset caught up, to the airline, they can classify this as reasons beyond their control.

Normally, such conditions are fine prints sometimes printed in such way that they are difficult to read or printed and written in such that the definition can be misleading. Accommodations and food applies only if such rules exist on said airline whether the cancellation is by their fault or not otherwise it simply becomes an airlines courtesy. Low cost airlines apply the principles of any common mode of travel like the boat or the bus which I haven't heard of any hotel accommodations. They give you at least sardines and rice in the ship if one engine conks out and reaches port late! The morale here is the very bottom of fare prices also has its catch and understanding it should prepare us for the worst. So if you're coming from out of town, prepare an extra for food and lodging and understand that provincial airports don't operate 24hrs! I'm just curious now if cabin crew still belt out their "fun tunes" and "fun games" on the relief flight loaded with hot tempered passengers. Even dancing FAs can't help this situation perhaps.
Ewan ko ba kung kasama sa "force majeur" ang sunset limitation na yan. Kahit na lang sa "humanitarian reasons" to offer their check-in section sa airport or their ticketing office for the stranded passengers. Or have them packed food from a fast food or carinderia. Hindi naman siguro malaki ang mawawala sa kanila dun. alam naman natin na sumakay nga sa low-cost kasi wala ring pera for extras.

I had it with Cebu Pacific na for so many times.

Kung hindi lang sa magagandang connections at routes nila (na hindi abot ng PAL), naku parang ayoko nang sumakay. Pati kasi mga personalities and attitude ng crew (especially sa ground) ay "low cost" din.

P150 airport terminal fee eyed
Friday, June 15, 2012

THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is planning to increase the terminal fee of the Dumaguete Airport from P30 to P150.

Dumaguete Airport Manager Veronica Chuang said it is high time to adjust the rate to shoulder the increasing expenses to run the airport. She added that the last increase of the terminal fee was more than 20 years ago.

She said the airport is spending more than P1 million a month, including the salary of the airport employee.

The airport is also paying P260,000 to P280,000 a month for power bills, she said.

Chuang stressed that Dumaguete airport has an average income of P23,000 a day or P690,000 to P700,000 a month.

At present, the airport has ongoing projects amounting P75 million to expand the airplane parking area and asphalting of runway. (Victor L. Camion)

Traders buck P150 airport terminal fee
Tuesday, June 19, 2012

BUSINESSMEN in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental strongly opposed the proposed P150 terminal fee in the Dumaguete airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) conducted a public hearing and consultation for the proposed adjustment of the terminal fee from P30 to P150.

Have something to report? Tell us in text, photos or videos.

Ed Du, president of the Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCI), said the proposal is impractical and without basis.

Du, however, clarified that he is not against the proposed adjustment of the airport terminal fee but it should be in accordance with what is needed, practical and reasonable.

Instead of P150, Du is pushing for P115 airport terminal fee while some businessmen are for P80 to P100.

Airport Manager Veronica Chuang said it is the high time to adjust the rate in order to shoulder the increasing expenses to run the airport.

Aside from the daily maintenance, Chuang said the airport has ongoing projects amounting P75 million for the expanding of the airplane’s parking area and asphalting of runway.

The projects are part of the preparation for additional flight next month.

CAAP is also planning to renovate the Dumaguete airport by putting a second floor for offices while the whole ground floor will be the departure area. (Victor L. Camion/Sunnex)

If I'm not wrong, this will entail some reclamation towards the sea area.

I asked people at the Airphil Express counter at the airport whether they will soon start their Cebu-Dumaguete flight, and they replied that the most probable upcoming flight would be that of Manila-Dumaguete vv...

Never on a Sunday
Airport PlanBy FORMER SENATOR RENE ESPINA

MANILA, Philippines — I am still interested to read and know more about new infrastructures either proposed, in the five-year plan or already under construction. This interest could be because of my previous positions in government not only as administrator of the SSS, provincial governor, and my rather short tenure as secretary of the then Department of Public Works which included Highways, Transportation and Communication, and the National Irrigation Administration. If memory serves, almost every infrastructure, even the Metropolitan Water District.
Quote:
I would like to review some of the previous structures like the old Bacolod Airport... The runway was too short for comfort. So too with the Dumaguete Airport. I was told by my pilot friends in PAL that one airport that they used to test a pilot’s skills was Bacolod because the runway was too short. Likewise, the Dumaguete Airport was a test area. It has a mountain at one end of the runway and strong cross winds during the monsoon season. In fact, you can land in Dumaguete flying over the mountains. However, for take-offs the plane must always fly towards the Tanon Strait.

Still a gray area if the current Airphil website will turn into PAL Express but keep the 2p code or this website will dissolve and be consolidated as one "PAL" and "PAL Express" website and both having PR code, except that the latter will turn out cheaper than the PAL routes retained. Since PAL Express will also be serving snacks, then what could be the difference from PAL, the price of the ticket perhaps?, I will gladly choose the cheaper one. For a one hour or two flight segment, the difference between comfort and service may not matter that much at all!

I could only smile, an LCC is now serving complimentary snacks, hehe; this is going to be good for all of us passengers.
